New Everton Stadium

Loads of them are bothered by it. They’re even referencing it in their “witty” songs they make up about us.

I’m going to file this alongside the time you said there’s loads of empty seats at Goodison and there’s no demand for spare tickets.

I’ve never met any Evertonian ever, who jumps to the defence of any criticism of LFC/Anfield like you do.

Likewise the criticisms of our vastly superior, waterfront stadium.

Referencing BMD in witty songs is hardly proof of anything. I can't say I've heard any. Let's face it "best stadium in the championship" quips where a pretty easy shot.

As regards empty seats at Goodison..... All I said was that I have 4 season tickets and go away to sea, and my kids study away .... I'm also often responsible for several other season tickets of friends/family who can't always go. So, I've often had several spares (and occasionally if I need more I rarely have problems getting them for face value). Over the years, I've regularly been unable to shift them on the official resale site, here or elsewhere (I don't do twitter) so I give them away..... and I've had other empty seats around me from no shows. I wasn't inferring it was like the emptihad.

"Jumps to the defence of any criticism of Anfield/LFC?"..... nonsense! I've openly criticised Anfield and LFC on multiple forums. Even only minutes ago on a stadium forum (where incidentally you'll find several reds singing the praises of BMD). However, to claim that they're all worried by or obsessed with BMD is a nonsense. Some perhaps, but generally they're massively more concerned about several other clubs and various team/player matters than us or BMD.

We've literally nearly just been relegated for the 2nd year running, are an absolute basketcase of a club financially and have been run into the ground for decades. We've gone beyond the traditional (tribal) joke for most of them.

My main reservation regarding BMD have revolved around the funding model..... mainly being that there isn't one! I think those concerns have been more than justified.

There might be a few cranks wound up by BMD but the vast majority of reds I know aren't a bit bothered.... many actually think it'll be a good thing for the city generally and they're appreciative of that.

Those I've spoken to certainly don't feel threatened by it. Why would they? They've got to 61k for a fraction of the cost, with 3 times the number of boxes of BMD and over double the corporate capacity. Their new stands pay for themselves in no time. Freeing up more cash from an already much larger matchday income, to invest in to an already much superior team. The truth is, we barely register on their "causes for concern" list.

Some may have concerns that the step change in facilities and profile may set the club up for a wealthier and more professional ownership to come in (we all hope), but they're probably more than balanced by those who see the resultant debt killing us, or not owning the stadium. (Hence the reason for most not being too bothered so far).
Have u got an Anfield/Goodison half and half scarf?

Yeah, this is my experience.

Red’s who’ve spoke to me about have focussed heavily on will it be finished if we go down, is the funding gonna fall through, was I disappointed with the capacity.

All little subtle digs through gritted teeth.

Tbh..... I've seen all of those questions and many more besides from blues on here and elsewhere. Subtle digs perhaps, but plausible questions that many here have had too.

I'm not suggesting for one minute that many or perhaps most reds wouldn't want us or BMD to fail. That's the nature of things. But it's hardly raised anything like the "rage" or "worry" suggested from what I've seen.... because that has all been long tempered by years of abject failure, culminating in our current parlous state on and off the pitch.

Of course, that may well step up when it's up and running, getting great reviews and furthermore if it helps facilitate new owners who finally give progress on the pitch too.

Not sure how you work out they are ahead from that i make it a month or 2 behind. At best on target.
In any case the handover date still leaves plenty of things for EFC to do before the first PL game. I will be very suprised if we move mid season and expect us to have our first PL game there August 25. So still 2 full seasons at GP i reckon.
Take a screenshot jun 23 and compare with current drone footage. Even if this is beginning of June the west stand roof is far more advanced and the first cantilever truss doesn’t appear until July, south stand roof steels are again more advanced, the north stand terrace is also now complete only steels are showing in the plans. That’s my view and if this is the end of June from the plan we are well ahead 🙏

As many will confirm, I've dragged my feet with this stadium: first in terms of us not needing to leave Goodison - that it could and should have been expanded and conserved as our stadium and, importantly for me, that we leave behind us that part of the city which has been the cradle of football - and second, in terms of the design / accessibility issues etc.

They're all still valid criticisms. However, this stadium at the docks is almost here. This is our reality now.

I'm in wonderment seeing a huge and imposing fortress emerge on the edge of the river - materialising before our eyes each passing day. When finished it will be a magnificent addition to the world of football. The location is, of course, breathtaking; and our stadium adding to the city's skyline - seen in the context of that skyline - will be beamed around the globe to register in the minds of all football fans, and they'll be impressed and/or insanely jealous they dont have it.

To believe that - above all - our city rivals "aren't arsed" is for the birds. To suggest that they aren't is about as close to stupid as you can possibly get.

Things can change so much during the course of a projects that what you see on these kind of early 4D sims is rarely close to what actually happens. It is a full time job to keep the schedule up to date.

I would be wary of using that published video to make any sort of assumption on project position.
