New Everton Stadium

Hmm 🤔. If you're 65 and confident you won't set foot in the stadium "at this rate" then you must be a very poorly man. Get well soon my friend. God bless 🙏
Yeah. Can hardly walk as my lunges are shot. Painting and decorating for 40 years and before health and safety became a thing.
Haven't been to goodison for about 3 years but was hoping to push myself for 1 game with my lad during 2024 season.
Strange thing; I started going to goodison as soon as I could walk. I stopped going when I stopped walking. 😂

Instead of listening to Sky, probably best to read the interview from the Everton interim CEO yesterday who explains the stadium build is actually a few weeks ahead of schedule and at no point have Everton ever said it'll be ready for the start of 2024.

In fact, two people on here in @Connor And @Moomin Have repeatedly stated for the past 6 months that'll it'll be ready for handover to Everton around December 2024 (which was confirmed yesterday) but you probably wouldn't have seen these repeated posts as you've only posted 3 times in your history

Make that (almost) a year ;)

12 month delay in stadium build. Only Everton could manage this. How can your plans be a year out.
Absolutely sick of Everton. I'm 66 in August I'm never going to set foot in this stadium at this rate. A proper Circus we are.
What is a proper circus is our "fans" not reading stuff and acting like idiots when the statement is extremely clear.

Have a word with yourself and learn to read.

That faint it's imperceptible. It's not even a water mark strength.

I wonder why they bothered.

In any case, when you have a load of metal rain screens (apparently now windows) breaking it up it makes no sense at all.
I agree it's very subtle. I'll reserve judgement until I see it with my own eyes 👀.

I know you've had a good look at the planning docs so you'll likely know that it was originally a smaller design and continued through the panels. This was changed on the latter planning submission - with the pattern enlarged and the removal of the pattern from the metal panels - following consultation with statutory consultees/stakeholders as they felt the facade was too busy and needed simplifying. It will have been a necessary change to get through planning and personally one which I think was an improvement.

Anyway, I guess you thinking that the breaking up of the pattern is a bad thing is a moot point as you don't like the pattern at all. It's all opinions really and you are entitled to yours. Others wanted it/like it so it's just one of those things. Can't please all of the people all of the time etc.

I believe the bar codes are looking to expand SJP. I saw on U Tube (though didn't watch the video) some one saying 75000. Regardless, it's telling that
our new stadium will be one of the smallest of the bigger clubs.

I've posted this stuff before, but for anyone who's interested and hasn't seen this before, these images are from the Design & Access Statement addendum. They explain the change to the facade and truss pattern.

I doubt very much that this would be considered a necessary change. I know there are conservation area considerations, but they are really just about maintaining the overall character and setting of the area. If you look at the immediately neighbouring buildings it would be hard to define exactly what the local character is in terms of building style. This change is purely subjective as far as I am concerned, and whoever sought it was talking out of their arse.

Yeah, fair points. I guess we'll never know as we weren't in the room for the planning discussions. The club would probably have jumped through any hoop to get consent.

I definitely think making the pattern larger was the right move as it looks less busy and is more subtle but some may disagree.

As you can guess, I would have preferred the more prominent design as the watered down version lacks visual impact to the point where some on here can't even spot it.

I am a little biased as I have worked alongside several Conservation/Listed Buildings officers during my career, and only one of them actually had any formal design training. One girl I worked with wanted to ban anything other than white window frames on all arterial roads, whether or not they were in conservation areas - she was bonkers. Her partner in crime was the Chairwoman of the local civic society, a retired schoolteacher, again without any formal design qualifications. I generally take this sort of input with a large pinch of salt.
