New Everton Stadium

I've also posted these images previously, but as the roof is coming along nicely and I was already in the D&S doc, I thought I'd re-post these for anyone interested.

Should look awesome when it's finished 🤌

I've posted this stuff before, but for anyone who's interested and hasn't seen this before, these images are from the Design & Access Statement addendum. They explain the change to the facade and truss pattern.

Haha if only it looked one tenth as visible as in that bottom pic. In real life you cannot see the pattern at all.

As you can guess, I would have preferred the more prominent design as the watered down version lacks visual impact to the point where some on here can't even spot it.

I am a little biased as I have worked alongside several Conservation/Listed Buildings officers during my career, and only one of them actually had any formal design training. One girl I worked with wanted to ban anything other than white window frames on all arterial roads, whether or not they were in conservation areas - she was bonkers. Her partner in crime was the Chairwoman of the local civic society, a retired schoolteacher, again without any formal design qualifications. I generally take this sort of input with a large pinch of salt.
Yeah that is bonkers! Let's just all stay stuck in the past shall we 🤦‍♂️

I do think the new stadium design strikes a nice balance between heritage and modern, but we have probably had our pants pulled down a bit by the heritage mob.

I suspect the pattern coating on the facade is designed to 'enhance' overtime after exposure to the elements.

I can't see them throwing up scaffolding again for some fella to go over it with a paintbrush.
I did think that but the effect is barely visible compared to both the CGI renders and the sample brick panels they threw up at the start of the job.

If anything weathering will make it lighter still, not darker.

Perhaps they made a design decision to make it less visible but not sure why they would?

Usually, yeah. Though some coatings change colour at a different rate. Who knows how they've gone about it.

Maybe it was only ever meant to be a hint anyway? On some of the stills from drone videos it looks really obvious. On other, less so.

The more subtle the Leitch pattern the better for me. I don’t particularly like that feature on the brickwork.

I would have loved if they recreated the blue and white Leitch pattern on the stands. On the South Stand Riser or at the front of the upper tier etc.

It’s our identity and should have been retained to make the bowl more distinctive. More Everton.

Look at heritage England and even the current Mayor of liverpool. I don't know how but these people get those positions through no qualifications or experience.

Haven't been down for yonks but had a little walk down there today, wow! I forgot how immense it was close up! Can't wait to go there.
2nd pic would have been a great view if it weren't for that container! At least it's the right colour I suppose!

That massive yellow crane looks like it's in position to lift another piece of the barrel roof up there on the East stand.
