New Everton Stadium

I expect the accessible areas will be priced like normal season tickets, it would be discriminatory to charge them more just because of the amount of space that is needed. Ultimately, wheelchair users need more space to manoeuvre than able bodied supporters so the areas set aside for them impacts quite considerably on standard seating provision.

Where they are though, aren't they going to get soaked right at the front ?

Found this article, actually looks quite straightforward looking at that graphic relating to BMD to increase capacity going forward,I'd imagine the upper tier of the south stand or the opposite north stand would be utilised?https://www.safestandingroadshow.co...-standing/can-safe-standing-increase-capacity
I might be mistaken but I think the lower north and south will be the first to incorporate safe standing? That being said most of the ground is 750mm depth so could be converted, it’ll just depend on what legislation the govt pass and then require a change in seating as the current traditional ones protrude too much.

With the BMD row depth being 750mm facilitation a potential 2:1 ratio. Out of curiosity does anyone know the row depth of Goodison Park? (I appreciate that it probably varies from stand to stand).

Everyone will have their own perspective on this, but to me I think there’s a ceiling to the number of fans that will want to stand - and that I think will be the limiting factor on how much standing there eventually is at BMD.

For me, I fancy giving the South lower a go for novelty’s sake, but I certainly can’t see myself wanting to stand for every match I attend.

If the 2:1 standing rule was granted today, would the space/dimensions allow for it as it stands? Seen some say it would and some say it wouldn't. Also, does the potential 60k (with standing) figure the club stated a while back apply to the current standing sections, or would more standing sections need to be added?

personally I think the ideal mix would be for the stands behind the goals (Both North and South Upper and Lower) to be standing and the rest seated.

….even as a kid growing up from the early 60’s I’ve never understood why anybody would want to stand and watch the game. Each to their own I suppose but after the horror of the 80’s I’m of a view that if we are to allow ‘safe standing’ it should be significantly restricted.

750mm treads can never equate to 2:1. There is a minimum special requirement per person, when that is applied to each 750mm row it only gives approx 1.3-1.5. Then of course there has to be some room for people to get in and out of each row. In the days of terracing the gaps between crush barriers were much wider, so people could usually find some space to weave through the crowd to get to friends etc. That space is far more constrained by the rails. That's why the German Stadia usually have have treads of 850-1000mm in these areas. I think it was 850mm in the original drawings for BMD.

I think there are some doubts about increased ratios ever being allowed. Colin Chong has said as much for a while. There is some concern about excessive migration of people to the more desirable standing areas (ie directly behind the goal) or simply to be nearer friends, that may cause localised overcrowding. Having a defined seat to stand next to at least offers some self-control to some of that, by allowing people to say "you're in my spec". If proper terracing was ever allowed (as it is a multiple RL grounds), then that could help the call for increased ratios, but I'm not sure that they'd ever go to the maximum spacial allowance.

Understand your view but a lot of my outstanding memories of games was standing watching Everton score and traveling down 15 flights of stairs at Villa Park, Elland Road, Analfield was a lot younger then but they will never be replicated anymore which you could say is a good thing but at the time was a treasured memory for me

….understandable, I was behind that goal at Elland Rd when Latchford scored. Worst was the Kippax, it was 10mins before I realised Hamilton’s goal had been disallowed. Memories but we can’t go back to those times.
