New Everton Stadium

If the club didn't think that the docks was feasible, I'm sure they would be leaking stories about the difficulties to the media
That would not happen as it would undermine their negotiating position regarding the potential site at SC which is obviously very strong if the mayor of Liverpool is willing to travel to London to meet Moshiri instead of the other way around.

I think the mayor would travel to timbuktu if he thought he could get a few votes out of it.

Looking at the picture again and reading between the lines it appears that Joe has turned up with two black and white photocopies of the Stonebridge Cross brochure. Surely there was nothing contained in that brochure that Moshiri didn't already know or had not already been covered?
The docks and SC has been public knowledge for a while now which makes me think something doesn't add up. Surely Moshiri would be well versed in SC prior to this meeting so why the brochure at this point? My suspicion is that Joe is going hell for leather to persuade Moshiri that SC is the perfect spot and that is worrying.
Sorry lads, just thinking out loud here.

Perhaps the face lift GP is getting is part of the plan c option. If peel aren't amenable in the short term to a deal then minor upgrade to GP represents a short term solution.

SC DK and WHP are all the wrong solutions.

Manchester city's stadium isn't exactly city centre is t?

I remember going to a meeting in Piccadilly Plaza in Manchester city centre and the Etihad was clearly visible from the office windows, so it's not as far out as you might think, but City are a special case because of their immense wealth.

You could build a lovely stadium at SC but it would still be the middle of nowhere. I'm an old-fashioned Blue, used to visiting the pubs around Goodison as part of the pre-match experience, and post-match in my younger days.

You can't replace that at SC. You would literally turn up for the match and go home straight after. You wouldn't get the same sense of bonding with other Blues as you walk up to the ground.

You could make the same arguments against the docks I suppose, but proximity to the city centre would be a big advantage IMHO.

Obviously we don't know anything yet but I'd be opposed to SC simply because I don't think we can afford to move even further away from the city centre. The idea of being dumped in the middle of an industrial estate is hugely unappealing.

Playing devil's advocate slightly but if you've been to Old Trafford before, you'll know it's miles out of the centre of Manchester but it doesn't hamper them selling out each week.

Clearly this owes to the success they've had in recent times but if we start to get it right on the pitch, United are evidence that the ground being miles away from the city centre can work.

I would be in favour of a waterfront stadium by the way but if it was Stonebridge then it's not the negative some seem to be suggesting it is.

I don't really think this comparison works - Utd have been based outside of Manchester since their formation. We haven't, obviously.

I don't know Manchester at all but were there comparable prime options like the docks available in Manchester at the time the city of Manchester stadium was built?

City weren't paying for it so I don't think they cared but I don't think there would have been an equivalent site in centre of Manchester
