New Everton Stadium

Thinking on Anderson's tweet again, and the unlikelihood of building any stadium in 2 years, could it be that Everton are waiting on that 2 year period before waterfront planning applications can be submitted which is why we have spruced up Goodison a bit?

Perhaps Anderson means that we will have a new home agreed and plans in place in 2 years rather than we will be playing in anew stadium.

Playing devil's advocate slightly but if you've been to Old Trafford before, you'll know it's miles out of the centre of Manchester but it doesn't hamper them selling out each week.

Clearly this owes to the success they've had in recent times but if we start to get it right on the pitch, United are evidence that the ground being miles away from the city centre can work.

I would be in favour of a waterfront stadium by the way but if it was Stonebridge then it's not the negative some seem to be suggesting it is.

Old Trafford has been there for over a 100 years, so its not like they moved out of the city to go there, so really thats a daft thing to say, Stonebridge its a very negative move, slightly better then Destination Kirkby perhaps but it really isnt something we should be happy to do.

I don't know Manchester at all but were there comparable prime options like the docks available in Manchester at the time the city of Manchester stadium was built?

Well there was the land that became Media City but I think that stadium need a far greater area then just the football ground since it was part of an athletics park. Besides it is closer to the city center then people realise, ive walked it several times, a lot of city fans do without much effort.

If we're looking at it from Moshiri's perspective the dockside does have a negative - it is Peels land so Peel would hold ALL the cards on location, size and what (If any) extras we would be allowed by them to have - after all it is their land and they do have long term plans that we would have to comply and fit in with - we wouldn't be allowed for example to have much else apart from the stadium (That would be enough for me though!). Also I guess the whole project would be a lot longer than 2-3 years. A Stonebridge Cross deal between us and LCC would give Moshiri and the club pretty much a blank cheque to do whatever we liked given its much larger size and full support of the council - no awkward bast*rds like Peel telling us what, where, why, when, how - and could be started and completed within 2-3 years and big enough to have a large EFC 'village' type surroundings. People should blame Peel not anyone else if the dockside dream is ended.

SC is a crap location and United is a crap analogy to the out of town dump that is SC.

Not being funny like, but have you ever been to OT like? As I can't see how anyone could compare that location with the likes of SC.

Exciting times ahead for us under Moshiri, but if the latest interest in a dockside stadium doesn't come off, then I'll stay bitter towards BK over what could have been.
It was always a more complex conundrum than many would have you believe, and hindsight is a truly wonderful gift.

However, it's long gone, and Moshiri isn't going to plump for Joe's SC lemon in a million years. Providing Peel are able to be convinced it'll be the docks.

Lindsey Ashworth was the guy from Peel that I've heard talk about the project. Seems a bit 'in your face' spouting things like that he told David Cameron that the project wont go to public scrutiny 'or else' etc. Guess he just sees the £ signs and fair play to him, its his job, but then so does our new owner and given the lack of progress so far with Peels 'long term plan', it seems we could be able to help them amend and progress their plan. I say 'their' plan by the way, because its yet another example of outside influence in our city/region given freely by the council because (like our club previously) the right people weren't in charge to oversee architectural or citywide masterplanning.

Think SC with a few sweeteners thrown in by Joe Anderson would be a goer under Kenwright, agree, that with Moshiri now pulling the strings it won't be.
