New Everton Stadium

"I'll do whatever I can to help them make the Dock work or prepare an alternative which means the club has a world class new home."

Makes me believe that if we do end up at SC, it's purely becuase the club had no way of getting onto the docks, which I am fine with. I do believe that Anderson is pushing for the docks too.

Just see that tweet.

That seems quite clear to me that Anderson would also like the dock.
I think it's more of a case of Moshiri telling him that the dock is part of his vision for the club and it dumps all over SC.

Joe has therefore piped down about it and is throwing his weight behind helping the club make it happen

More from my contact this morning:

Re the London meeting:
- Anderson was definitely there pushing the SC option as the best for the Council and the one which he and LCC could offer the most support on
- EFC are non-committal either way on SC - seems that we're keeping our options very much open.

BUT - here's the interesting thing - my source reckons Everton have never even had a price from Peel for the docks site, and we are currently "nowhere" in our negotiations with them.
This slightly conflicts with something The_Esk heard from elsewhere which is that we did receive a price from Peel a month or so back, but that Moshiri was not happy with it and nothing has been agreed after further talks.

Whichever one of those nuances is true, it adds weight to this theory: we're at an impasse with Peel, and the meeting with the Mayor and the placing of the document on the table in the photo were at least in part designed to try and put pressure on Peel to move things forward and try and get something agreed.

Alternatively, they were incriminating photos of Anderson to persuade him to get behind the Docks bid!

Agree on the stage managed aspect. The meeting would have been convened by Moshiri and given that very little EFC information seems to make it into the public domain in his time here, then it is safe to assume that the photo information was deliberate and not accidental. Designed to put pressure on Peel that SC was never taken off the agenda, again, undoubtedly!

I was told a couple of months ago, that Peel were told in no uncertain terms to strike a deal with Everton at a fair price, or to basically forget building anywhere else in Liverpool. Peel were open to this and negotiations have been ongoing since then. The last time I went past SC they were building houses or something on it.

I have to say that I have fairly good information that Everton have been given an £/acre rate for the land at the docks. The price is nothing particularly prohibitive to Everton.

Ha - perfectly possibly my source hasn't got this one right in terms of whether we have been offered a price or not - but I believe them when it comes to their being no current agreement in terms of moving forward with an agreement with Peel.
