New Everton Stadium

I was told a couple of months ago, that Peel were told in no uncertain terms to strike a deal with Everton at a fair price, or to basically forget building anywhere else in Liverpool. Peel were open to this and negotiations have been ongoing since then. The last time I went past SC they were building houses or something on it.

That's just not true mate

Ha - perfectly possibly my source hasn't got this one right in terms of whether we have been offered a price or not - but I believe them when it comes to their being no current agreement in terms of moving forward with an agreement with Peel.

Does your source have a council connection or a club connection ? I only ask because it seems unlikely that a council insider would have any inkling of the dealings between the club and Peel Holdings.

....was in the Trafford Centre yesterday, I didn't know that was Peel Holdings. They must have some portfolio of land.

That's their head office as well. In the dome. I think that the car that's placed in there, cant remember the make, and old one, was his Mothers car or something.

It's not anymore, they sold it a while back to intu properties
That's correct and Whittaker owns a large part of Intu , a very murky set up is Peel , have you ever read a document by the ex MP , Peter Kilfoyles daughter ?
I'm sure it's available on the net somewhere , basically paints Peel as a myriad of separate holding companies that refinance each other , a bit mind boggling for your average layman !
This is what makes me think they will be no pushover to deal with .

Could it be that in the docks we would have to settle for lesser stadium plan than in some other site which would be cheaper?does it work like that like..?

I very much doubt it. I reckon Moshiri knows exactly what he wants and just needs to help find the right partners to help deliver it. Joe Anderson has got his begging bowl out.

More from my contact this morning:

Re the London meeting:
- Anderson was definitely there pushing the SC option as the best for the Council and the one which he and LCC could offer the most support on
- EFC are non-committal either way on SC - seems that we're keeping our options very much open.

BUT - here's the interesting thing - my source reckons Everton have never even had a price from Peel for the docks site, and we are currently "nowhere" in our negotiations with them.
This slightly conflicts with something The_Esk heard from elsewhere which is that we did receive a price from Peel a month or so back, but that Moshiri was not happy with it and nothing has been agreed after further talks.

Whichever one of those nuances is true, it adds weight to this theory: we're at an impasse with Peel, and the meeting with the Mayor and the placing of the document on the table in the photo were at least in part designed to try and put pressure on Peel to move things forward and try and get something agreed.
The meeting with Anderson may have been partially designed to put pressure on Peel but the idea that the photo and the document placement are is not credible as they are not consistent with the narrative presented.
You said, 'Anderson was definitely there pushing the SC option.' The photo and document came from him but if he was there to push the SC option why would he be party to something that could serve to undermine it if it successfully prompted Peel to engage?
I think he is pushing SC but saw a twitter backlash after the photo and quickly did damage limitation by talking up the docks fearing he'd become a lighting rod for anger if SC was eventually chosen.
Thanks for your info btw. Sounds like you have a reliable source. Keep us informed if you can.

315 companies I think.

I'm sure the sale to inutu was for 1.6bn of shares, they avoided capital gains tax of £200m because of this

What is most strange about all of this is the comment that Everton could have a new stadium with a two or three year span.

I wonder if the council are talking about the SC site when he say this, I am sure that if the council are fully behind a project there would be very few delays in getting the project started.
It just may be his way of putting some pressure on Moshiri to move away from the Docks idea as everybody knows that a new stadium has been a big issue for Evertonians for a long time.

I don't really see why he would say such a thing and ramp up the pressure on everybody.

Anderson first said 3 years and now 2. He couldn't possibly be referring to anything other than SC as it appears that talks with Peel are not, as of yet at least, progressing.
If the Docks do progress I'm sure he'll jump onboard to take some political credit but I have to say that SC is looking much more likely at this stage, wishful thinking aside.
