New Everton Stadium

This is a project which will cost 100s of millions it is about as far removed from "buying a plot of land to build a house on " as you can get.

It's not really.

Whether it is to build a new abode for oneself or to create a brand spanking new football stadium with all the infrastructure that must by necessity accompany it, one would want to be mad to purchase the "plot of land" without knowing for certain one can proceed as intended.

Mind you, such things have happened before and white elephants owned by bankrupt developers are dotted all over this green and pleasant land

If anyone is in any doubt as to the complexities of a stadium development and the planning process, it's worth looking at the amount of documentation supporting Chelsea's application to knock down Stamford Bridge and replace with a 60,000 seat stadium.

Obviously Everton don't face as many issues as Chelsea do in terms of location and the level of disruption, but nevertheless this will be a complex application when it occurs

This isn't just for stadiums, this is about the level of detail that many large scale buildings will have to go into. Certainly for any refurb, or change of use applications.

The Commonwealth games at Gillmoss will help rebuild the area and offer Everton a new home afterwards.

Does seem to be a bit daft to build a stadium for just football when there's a whole Games event just round the corner.

I appreciate it wouldn't be on to share with the Horrors but Wigan and St Helens aren't too far away are they? We could rent for a bit and put some money toward renovations? Maybe even sell another player like this summer?

It'd be just like us having to sell a Stadium first in order to buy another..........

starting to get worried again that this is a no goer

And even if it is a goer, and I am sharing your concerns now, from a standing start where we are today this ain't happening any time soon.

That two years business is bunkum.

Even five years is beginning to sound optimistic.

It wouldn't surprise me if this Commonwealth Games bid has entered the equation and the club are thinking if the bid is successful there might be a chance of us inheriting the stadium after the event.
