New Everton Stadium

Naming rights will need to go in place at the start because as you said, no company will pay shed loads of money for a sponsorship just to hear it being called "New Goodison Park"

All of those stadiums do have permanent proper non-sponsor names in case there is not a sponsor at the time

Yeah but they lose their identity if for a few seasons it's the Emirates, then it's the Ashburton Grove for a year until they officially unveil the Coca Cola Stadium. Compare that to how affectionately Highbury is remembered. I'd rather avoid that with a new stadium but I know it's probably an essential part of the financial picture.

Only thing about the naming rights is what happens to a stadiums identity when the sponsor changes? Imagine the Allianz, Etihad or Emirates called something else. It's a bit like Stoke's bet365 stadium when Stoke fans have come to know and love it as the Brit. I'd rather go without the naming rights initially, you could call it New Goodiaon or whatever you wanted, then once that name is in the vernacular you could slap whatever sponsor logo you want on the side, no one would call it by that name anyway (which is probably why big names don't normally give the naming rights to existing stadiums)
We are going to sell the naming rights immediately before it opens for sure. It is going to create the biggest impact for our sponsor if everybody speaks about that stadium with the name of that sponsor since the start. How the fans are going to call it is probably the smallest issue I can imagine. UEFA rules are that you can't name the stadium after your sponsor in games in Europe. So we can likely name our stadium something like Mersey stadium or Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium (BMD Stadium) use that name it European competitions and call it like that at first after we announce it - and then just rename it after a company name a use that name everywhere else.

It doesn't at all.

That first game and subsequent others have had a significant number of transitory support - that is to say people wearing other club jerseys or London day trippers who fancy watching a game (Stratford at the end of the DLR, very easy to get to). It's one of the contributory factors to the bad crowd issues.

We are on the other hand are based in a city split on the core Everton/Liverpool tribalism, and we aren't going to get this level of "nothing better to do" support on the day. 45k with a view to future expansion and top facilities would be the better bet

Building a 45k stadium when we can already hold 39k and regularly fill it would be madness.

We have a lot of dormant support, people like my dad who were put off going after years of stagnation and disappointment. We would easily get near to filling a 50k stadium on a regular basis.

Far better to have a few thousand empty seats for half the season than be packed and miss out on potential revenue.

Thankfully I believe Moshiri wants us to achieve things on and off the pitch and won't settle, which is what a 45k build would be.

Isn't the Emirates called the Emirates in European games though ?

Heard it's being announced and unveiled at philomonic hall in November at AGM venue is booked already

That's possible mate, I just figured though given the impact a new stadium will have on the club's finances during the building of it, that this will be mentioned as a post balance sheet item in the Report & Accounts. That being the case the announcement (if not the details) would be made earlier at the time of publication of the Accounts.

45k wouldn't be enough now never mind in the future. We will sell out the first 4 games and that's with palace sending the upper bullens back. I'd imagine we will sell out at least 10 this season.

You've also got to remember that if we increased to 45k at least 2/3k of those would be hospitality so you're only increasing the actual general admission seats by around 2 thousand.

50k is the bare minimum with 55k being the optimum imo.

Building a brand new stadium that sells out regularly is a disaster when there is scope for more sales.

Always better to go 5k too big than 5k too small from a financial point of view.

Also have to remember that a lot of people don't go the game if they feel they are paying for an obstructed view, something that has crippled EFC for years.

"Due to UEFA regulations on stadium sponsors, during European matches the stadium is not officially referred to as Emirates Stadium, as Emirates are not an official sponsor of the Champions League competition; other stadia, such as the Allianz Arena in Munich, have fallen foul of this rule before. UEFA refer to the stadium as Arsenal Stadium, which was the official name of the stadium at Highbury"

Could be Brennan but I wonder if the planning will be such as to leave room for expansion?

I don't mind at all if the naming rights are sold by the time a new stadium is ready, we need to adopt a ruthless attitude when it comes to maximising revenue, from whatever source. We have, pardon the pun, a lot of ground, to make up.

I would like it if the stadium could encompass something unique from a design/architectural viewpoint, to draw attention to it and raise our profile amongst football fans and non-fans alike. I would like more of an events arena than merely a football ground too, again to maxmise revenue and build brand recognition for our home as a world-class, multi-use arena/centre.

The other things that come to mind would be to have the stadium/arena very vividly and outwardly recognisable as being Everton's. Be this merely through a creative use of lighting and the club name/crest being clearly visible from afar/from the air - just to create a landmark that people look out for and want to see.

Additionally, some other inclusion of our heritage could be built into the new ground - one of the corners could be modelled on Prince Rupert's Tower for example which would again provide a focal point and be very distinctive.

Outside of football, I have a bit of an obsession with lights and lasers and whilst too much of that is overbearing, I don't think lighting is utlilised at all well in sporting venues and would be a clever way to add another element of uniqueness both outside and inside the stadium.
