New manager

I'm including both his U-21 and Senior experience. He won a tournament with the former and showed with the Senior side he was capable of playing good football with youth.

Not enough to show he's ready for the job we require though.
Under 21 is different,
Nowhere near as much pressure.
He had 6 games for the first team rep of Ireland twice, Finland twice and Greece twice and he lost one, which is a poor record for me as all them 3 teams are terrible

If we lose vs Bournemouth, sack him immediately after the game, no fannying around, straight after.

New manager then has 3 home games, Brighton, Leicester and Palace.

Not easy games, but wont get much better, and if we have got a bit of money to spend, it would be nice for a new manager to have a look-in, with signings.
We’ve played Brighton and palace at home

I don't even know how this fella could even be in the conversation.
His record as a club manager was crap ,He then got the England job because fatso got caught with his hands in the till and they needed a dullard who wouldn't rock the boat.
He was extremely lucky with the draw in major tournaments and even though he had a good squad of players every time they played a quality team he fell short.
To sum up its 100% no from me.
I wouldn't disagree with that. Not to speak for Esk, but my impression from his podcast was he let his "business" perspective overwhelm his football intelligence with his Southgate stance. His arguments for Southgate, it seemed to me, were based more around an improved corporate image which would, in his opinion, lead to a better footballing outcome than what we have with Dyche. Essentially, he felt he has a track record of doing better with an underperforming side than his predecessors did - which is fair comment - and that he could likely attract better players than Dyche. Which is also probably true.

However, I still think these are fairly low bars to set in what should be a statement - and critical - appointment for the club.

He was experimenting in each game with many players making their debuts. His task was to win the group and he did. His task with the U-21s was to win the tournament and he did.

Would you want Carsley if he had no link to Everton ?
Yes and No.

Playing helps the connection to the fans plus that Derby goal.

Take that away and look at his record in management then you could overlook him but what you can't take away is how hard he has worked to become a top top coach.

When we swapped out Walter Smith for Moyes, that was a huge call and worked out well. I think now there is more pressure but ultimately we need a modern coach.

If you look at the names we have been linked: Potter, Southgate, Moyes and Allergi - Carsley would be behind these (even Southgate) due to his experience but I think Fans would have him as 2nd or 3rd from this list.

He is very highly regarded and he will get a good job, I believe he has turned down West Brom so he has his sights in the Premier League.

With the takeover, our owner might not have Carsley on the radar but I know Thelwell will think he is good option.

My boy Max mentioned in the echo

“My boy Max”

What multiple title winning manager and Juventus legend Max Alkegri?

Really sticking your neck out there lad.

Totally agree.

Arteta had no managerial experience prior to taking over at Arsenal. At least Csrsley has a bit more experience under his belt having coached youth and full international teams.

He’s just not a big enough name for the people who frequent the transfer thread too often.

My point still stands if he had no link to Everton you wouldn’t want him or even mention him. This jobs for the boys hasn’t worked for 20yrs we need to start thinking outside the box

He won’t get a prem job

I don't really agree. Unlike Rooney or Ferguson, Carsley has some substance to him and is touted in the media as one of the upcoming managers to keep an eye on.

I personally think it's too soon and a far bigger risk than other options so wouldn't want him but can understand why he's mentioned or wanted and it's not due to the Everton links.

Arsenal then and Everton now, despite both needing rebuilds are in very different situations where they could risk taking on an unproven / relatively unproven manager and giving them time more than we can.

I'd love to get ahead of the curve and nab a manager who may start slow but then get to a level Arteta has with Arsenal but that took c. 3-4 years. Ultimately we need someone that can be like Emery has been for Villa and do the business from day one.

He hasn’t really managed at club level though, it’s a different world to England under 21’s ask Stuart Pearce, even Southgate was poor at Middlesbrough.
