New manager

My issue with the last few appointments is we have sacked managers with plenty of games to sort out 5/6 wins but then stuck with utter dreadful management then rinse and repeat.

We should have sacked Dyche months ago but yet again just like Rafael and Lampard, he looks to be going in January (hopefully)

If you think short-term, you end up with short comings hence the complete lack of quality management.

Our next manager has to be a modern coach who we will plan for seasons to come. It doesn't take billions and world class coaches to turn this around just stable, confident and constructive management.

Dyche goes, new manager in with funds for 2/3 players in to go into the rest of the month against:
Villa (H)
Spurs (H)
Brighton (A)
Leicester (H)

We can very much get 6/7 points to start moving up the league and away from the drop.

Has to be done quickly and therefore that means someone out of work.

That gives us a shortlist of
Moyes
Allegri
Ten Hag
Turzic
Fonseca
Sarri
Southgate

They have to make an immediate impact but Pereira shows that they don't need to have PL experience.

Any appointment is a risk. I suppose that Moyes is the least risky and probably least inspiring choice.

Ten Hag ( perhaps unfairly ) is seen as a figure of fun. Ditto Southgate.Fonseca was only sacked last week so maybe it's a bit early for him.

That leaves us with
Moyes - safe but dull ,
Allegri - was stellar but his reputation has slipped. Does he still has the desire?

Both are pragmatic managers who could work with this group of players

Sarri - great football but ageing, would the players be able to play Sarriball?
Turzic - Good record at Dortmund but fell out with players

Incredibly difficult decision. My first choice was Turzic and Ragnick ( as DoF ) . Now , given our position I think it would be Allegri for me.

Do it now please Dan.

David Moyes
Massimiliano Allegri
Erik Ten Hag
Edin Turzic
Paulo Fonseca
Maurizzio Sarri
Gareth Southgate
Graham Potter
Joachim Low
Rudi Garcia
Niko Kovac
Lucien Favre
Pacheta
Urs Fischer

If TFG wanted to show their ambition go and get Andoni Iraola, wouldn`t cost much to get him out of his £1m a year deal with 18 months left and promise him serious funding this month and sell the vision that Everton IS a step up and will get him to the next level.

Some class managers on that list , Turzic is a top manager who I would love to see here but would he have the ability to manage in the premiership.

Allegri is not going to be an option currently. Of the other names, nobody stands out for me.

Rudi Garcia would be a solid pick. Experienced across Europe, though again you'd wonder how he would adapt in these circumstances.

Potter would raise the same questions. Anyone will really in our state and whether they can spend is another huge factor.

You come full circle and end up with David Moyes for right or wrong, I've thought all along that he will be the favourite.

Why isn’t Allegri an option? What’s the issue?
(Full disclaimer - I’d never even *heard* of him until yesterday. Looked up his career. Now I’m fuming that he’s not taking over today. It’s a good job I’m not in charge)

Decent list, but the difficulty we have now, is because we are on the precipice (we may go over or we may pull away from it), how many of those managers in the short term are more risky than others? Some of those long term I think would be a decent solution for us, but in coming to a new team would it have to get worse before it gets better?

Pereira has shown you can come in and have an immediate impact. If we sacked tomorrow and got his 7 points in the next three or four games, safety would be relatively assured. My concern is just adjusting to a new team may see us get worse in the short term.

I’d be whittling that short list down to managers who have shown they can turn the fortunes of a team around or have an immediate impact in the space of 5 - 10 games.

Perhaps he is suggesting that he sees Everton as a club that should be top half and he believes they should be nowhere near relegation places.
That’s an interesting way of looking at it but at the moment, we’re in a relegation battle and we’ll probably be in one for the rest of the season whether Moyes comes in or not.

I can see no reason why Allegri is not an option currently.
If the job is offered to him ( and he is apparently over here improving his English with the aim of getting a PL berth) He will have the choice of either taking it or missing the opportunity entirely.

That is exactly my fear. But that is no reason not to twist at this point and make a gamble
It’s feeling like we are sleepwalking to relegation and , like last year , just hoping there are 3 teams worse than us .

A change of manager is a risk but what’s the alternative ? What are we losing by making a change , the last two seasons you could argue to keep the manager in place but what we’re watching is awful and ineffective.

I just dont see it happening at this time. Perhaps in the summer but that represents the dilemma Friedkin has. They need to make decisions here and now and you'd expect any new manager to get at least 18 months.

If there is a specific reason for delay, it is likely to be that they can't get their preferred choice now.
But that ship has sailed in my opinion. We need to ensure we are a Premier League club next season and at this stage the great reset and culture change has to be very much a secondary concern.
