New manager

Potter with Ashworth as DOF for me. Cultural overhaul required, which will take time and may be painful for results in short-mid term.
I could get on board with that . If we went down I'd back him to bring us back up with a young hungry team playing good football.

We can't carry on like this . Dyche's reign has been purgatory

Ashworth has some questions. Was very questionable at United and Newcastle. Potter doesn’t strike me as someone with the mental resilience to succeed here, I recall him crying about Brighton fans being too mean to him in a post match. They’d be an overall improvement based on the current shower, but definitely think they’re a cursed apple too

Thing about Chelsea and Potter was it was just completely the wrong fit, Chelsea's a team that's became used to hiring global superstar managers used to managing superstar egos. Mind you I do feel that to make it work he needs the players to get on board with learning the flexibility of his system etc, can see a lot at Chelsea wondering who this no mark was etc.

Everton are way more Brighton in nature than current Chelsea.

The pressure thing doesn't actually worry me so much, we have a small squad - very small and not really any big names or egos left, much as we like to try to go on about our expectations, they really aren't stupendous anymore, don't play dire footy, don't look tactically clueless, don't be a pr1ck to the supporters, don't go round bigging your own ego up, don't constantly downplay the clubs expectations.

I know that Potter transformed Brighton's football from unwatchable to pretty alright to watch. But it took him 3 seasons at a very good lead club, where he had trust and basically no pressure from fans and media to make that shown in results.

He got 41 points in his first 2 seasons, which is comparing to the 40 and 36 they had under Hughton not really an improvement.

Also he has his spells of very good form and then some of very bad forms like Dyche.

Don't remember that actually

The point I am making is that Expectations, rightly or wrongly, will be greater here.

If he's cussing fans out after post draw boos then he simply will not last here.

Tbf, I didn't know that word before.

You see in the prem, why Basque managers succeed, apart now from Lopetegui.

We are very obsessed with details.
About time the Basque gave something back to Everton !

(Forgot about Arteta. Was thinking about recruiting HK with that team at it's absolute peak)

Potter hasn’t managed a team to a win since against 10 man Leicester on 11th March 2023. That’s a very long time.

If he’s been doing what Howe did, going round spending a week with top managers to see alternative methods of training and squad building, fair enough.

For all the chaos at Chelsea, they did have some talent there.
