New Stadium- How to size it?

Does anyone have any knowledge on how far down the line the club is likely to state what Capacity they are looking to build? Now that we have the Council approval and need to submit planning permission, presumably that means we will have to specify what size we are looking to build?

Would they likely release this info at the moment they submit the planning application at the end of the year?

Maybe @RobSpurs may know about this?

For me , pure capacity on its own is not the determining factor - as an example in rugby Wales' Millennium Stadium is far superior all round for fans than England's Twickenham or France's Stade de France which both have larger capacities. Similarly, the amount of " Corporate boxes" we can get in without compromising the numbers for "proper fans" the better. If we get that right and sell out the corporate side bringing in big revenues then that becomes a substantial income for the club, and allow other ticker prices to be kept lower. I would say 55,000 must be the minimum 60 ideal with potential to expand . But as important as capacity is having an iconic stadium worthy of being the home of the Blues for 125 years .

We've never broken 41k in twenty years so I'd say 42k to allow a few extra in.

I don't see the point in building to expand in the short term. Set it high and let the back of a stand be empty if need be. 60k for me

How many people don't come because of the crap views and the uncomfortable seating, and the inability to get a pint or something to eat at halftime because the concourses are too crowded?

I'm guessing the club will have done some research into the latent demand to see Everton in a modern stadia that is just easier to get to, and easier to watch a match.

60k for me.

That'll come when the planning docs are made public.

What's confusing me though is there's been suggestions the club will consult on capacity. Hopefully if there is going to be a consultation, and if that consultation pushes back the final publication of the planning docs, the club will at least release a couple of renders in the meantime. Otherwise there's going to be more waiting before we see the designs I guess.

^^ e.g. this is from the planning docs for NWHL...

That might have something to do with the fact that Goodison's capacity has been less than 41,000 for over twenty years.

Before this season, West Ham hadn't broken 35,000 in forty years. Their average attendance is now 57,000.

New stadia attract new fans.
