Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

If you’re Arsenal or Spurs this is worse news than for us. These teams have been in the champions league and financially need to be there.
A guy made a good point of the radio, that this is good news for the league. Newcastle being competitive means they will have the potential to take points of every other team we will be competing with.
Chelsea, United, Spurs and Arsenal dropping points is good for us.

At the end of the day it’s up to us to spend wisely and win games.
This really. We can only as a club look after ourselves. I suspect plenty of cheap laughs at their expense over the next few seasons. Longer term it might be less funny though.

Will they?

Unless FFP and Premier League spending rules change dramatically they'll be allowed to spunk a load at first and then be hamstrung for years afterwards

Newcastle spent £40m on Joelinton - Just think about the potential for accumulated garbage

Man City obliterated FFP back in 2014 and were happy enough to pay a 60m Euro fine (they actually had over half returned because they sustained profit 3 years later). The next transfer window they went and spent £180m on players. The mega rich clubs have no problems getting around FFP.

I agree FFP is a joke and can definitely be circumnavigated

The Premier League spending rules appears to be a different story though (Taking our summers transfer activity in mind)

The big difference between us and them is that they've not accumulated the astronomical losses we have. They've made a profit in each of their last 5 seasons barring last year, but even then their COVID loss of £50m looks substantially better than our £140m.

They basically will have 3-4 seasons of free spending when the takeover comes and IF they buy the right players they'll be sorted. Just got to hope they follow our school of thought in buying average premier league players for big fees.

Anyone thinking they wont go above us is naive.

They'll get about £300m to spend over 3 years - because they don't really have any saleable assets within the squad

As much as we've gotten this spending thing completely wrong - we at least had a Lukaku/Stones/Gana to offset the books a little

I guess it's whether their owners/whichever manager they replace Bruce with is able to spend that £300m effectively

Its not going to be as easy as people think for them to all of a sudden compete, just look how hard we are finding it to step to the next level.

ONe thing is for sure, the Newcastle fans will enjoy thge ride more than they have done.

I dont really like Newcastle, but cant bedridge them enjoying themselves for a bit really.

Anyone who really believes this Bull from the Saudis about allowing BEIN sports to operate. The minute these scumbags get their SportsWashing hands on Howay FC things will be back to normal.

Not that bothered about the Toon getting the investment. Just where it comes from.

Hope they enjoy themselves as much as we did from 2016-2021.

Funny that last weekend the premier league was accused of blocking the takeover because of pressure by certain big clubs now it's back on again.
