Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

According to a football finance author quoted in The Sunday Times, Newcastle can spend £205m straight away without fouling FFP or PL rules plus if they sign someone for £100m on a 5 year contract, it can be written done as £20m/yr .. or effectively they can sign 10 x £100m players immediately

That not good

Is anyone saying that though? City's owners wealth isn't exclusively for City to spend either, Moshiri/Usmanov wealth isn't entirely for us to spend. They're still gonna have the richest ownership in the league, fact.

No but a countries investment fund is less speculative than an individuals private wealth.

Any player they go asking after from this point on will have their asking price at least doubled compared to before. Like a money pinata that agents will be licking their lips over. Not to mention even if the money comes pouring out like some on here are wetting their kecks over, it still takes years to build a good squad from what they've got now. Years that good players don't want to sacrifice regardless of pay.

I know mate.

Look, I'm not saying they're going to do a City.

As it stands, because of how tight Ashley was, Newcastle are actually in a decent position to go and spend £100-200m in the next two windows though.

But, they're Newcastle, so that £100-200m isn't going to suddenly attract amazing players. They need to build from a lower base first, so it's going to be a process.

Hope they find a way around it as that will mean we can too.

Yeah, you're right. They'll have to overpay on wages to attract players too, that's one of the issues we've had too, you don't have to match the elite club wages, you have to beat them to attract big players, until you start to establish yourself.

We have missed the boat big time - the recent collapses of Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal and the arab royals sense opportunity to gatecrash the top 4/ CL Cash cow.

We're stuck with Walter Mitty and Kenwright whilst Newcastle and Leeds could be about to become the next Man City/PSG.

Depressing!
And they're gonna nick our manager next too. Awful being a blue isn't it?

This takeover and all the rest in the Premier league Chinese will buy one next ,it would be like the cold War is in the Premier League mad countries jostling for power imagine World War three starting because someone got relegated lol

Potentially yes.

Theres more money in football now than ever. We will see by January how ambitious they will be. Are they going to make them a top team, or go after your Tarkowskis of this world.

These guys could spend £205mil today and write off the depreciation on the books over the 3 year cycle.

But they could also bring in ways to move around the rules and spend far more.

Theres nothing stopping them spending £500mil+ as long as they then sell players and bring in massive revenue streams.

Also, to build a team, they could sign Bissouma + Ward-Prowse and Kessie in Jan to sort their midfield. Sign Tarkowski and even Mina as centre backs and bring in Zaha.

These guys could easily lodge a £200mil double bid for Richarlison and DCL.

The ball is in Newcastles court at the moment and, bearing in mind they have 8 of 13 of their next games against, Chelsea Spurs United Liverpool Leicester Arsenal City and Everton...to take them into 1st Jan opening of the window...

...there will be alot of clubs hoping that they are under 15pts by 20 games. Would they be able to achieve 25pts from the remaining matches?

Im hoping they struggle until Jan and then spend a fortune on emergency signings and get relegated.

That would really harm them on the profit and sustainability rules and they would find it hard to shift players who were signed to escape relegation.

From pushing football investment in the country and subsequent investment overseas Xi Jinping has clamped down as there was too much money leaving China.

Im not sure why they or a huge Chinese investment fund would takeover any club now.

They'll be a danger but hopefully only to themselves. They will find similar recruitment problems to us and their fans will be more impatient than most. They will expect to be League Champions next season and win the Champions League the next season. If the manager plays negative football even if they are winning there will be grumbles of discontent. They need probably 20 players to achieve that. They probably need 8-12 just to be able to challenge top 4.

Probably took City three years to be properly good and an additional year to actually win stuff and be a proper threat.

So in January, we can reluctantly offer them

Delph 60m
Kenny 25m
Gomes 75m
Tosun 20m
Lonergan 250k

And they wouldn't breach any ffp

Good deals for all concerned then
