Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

According to a football finance author quoted in The Sunday Times, Newcastle can spend £205m straight away without fouling FFP or PL rules plus if they sign someone for £100m on a 5 year contract, it can be written done as £20m/yr .. or effectively they can sign 10 x £100m players immediately

Lingaard should be going for a out £80mill at least

Mancini won them the fa cup and league in his 3 years. Spent £320mill over the period.

Now...prices are double what they were in 2009-2013

At that level the inflation is much more than double too - I mean, City paid £35 million for a 23 year old Aguero then when he was already one of the most promising forwards in the world.

The equivalent nowadays would be at least three times that, probably closer to four just for normal clubs never mind the richest mugs going.

These guys could spend £205mil today and write off the depreciation on the books over the 3 year cycle.

But they could also bring in ways to move around the rules and spend far more.

Theres nothing stopping them spending £500mil+ as long as they then sell players and bring in massive revenue streams.

Also, to build a team, they could sign Bissouma + Ward-Prowse and Kessie in Jan to sort their midfield. Sign Tarkowski and even Mina as centre backs and bring in Zaha.

These guys could easily lodge a £200mil double bid for Richarlison and DCL.

The ball is in Newcastles court at the moment and, bearing in mind they have 8 of 13 of their next games against, Chelsea Spurs United Liverpool Leicester Arsenal City and Everton...to take them into 1st Jan opening of the window...

...there will be alot of clubs hoping that they are under 15pts by 20 games. Would they be able to achieve 25pts from the remaining matches?

Im hoping they struggle until Jan and then spend a fortune on emergency signings and get relegated.

That would really harm them on the profit and sustainability rules and they would find it hard to shift players who were signed to escape relegation.

From pushing football investment in the country and subsequent investment overseas Xi Jinping has clamped down as there was too much money leaving China.

Im not sure why they or a huge Chinese investment fund would takeover any club now.

Not sure anybody will be signing Bissouma any time soon, Zat

Potentially yes.

Theres more money in football now than ever. We will see by January how ambitious they will be. Are they going to make them a top team, or go after your Tarkowskis of this world.

The Tarkowskis of this world are, right now, what is attainable for a club of Newcastle's current level to attract. They're fighting relegation, not immediately looking to push to be a CL team.

So it'll be a slow process.

But they have a lot of money to spend and they can spend it, they have got a fair bit of scope with P&L.

Well, we bought Kean for £30mill and wanted to sell at £40mill. Lads nowhere near the top young strikers in the world either, you're starting off point is at least £40mill.

But yeah, he bought Aguero, Silva, and Yaya for £30mill each to put it into context

Only one man for the job.

"Cenk, how's your knee?"

So the owners of Newcastle will, I suppose, now start pouring money in, getting around FFP with things like insane sponsorship deals etc. Looks to me like our owners aren’t going to do this anytime soon so I think within 3/4 seasons Newcastle will be another team to breeze past us. So frustrating to watch your club become, well, Newcastle. Just there to make up the numbers. I think we really have to hope that FFP is scrapped soon and Moshiri (and friends) can start spending like he says he wants to.
Can’t do that anymore after City did it. Our 30 mil deal with USM just passed after being looked at. Has to be fair market value

We spent 500 mil and we are no closer to where we where when we started.money doesn’t guarantee success. They may have money but their training ground apparently awful, league 1 standard.an ofcource they be near the bottom of the league so no Europe for at least 18 months

...and their FFP/PL spending ceiling will go up over that period due to increased TV money (due to appearing in more games), more prize money due to finishing higher in the league, more income from sponsorship/dodgy money laundering deals from the Saudis kicks in (Companies owned by relatives of the owner suddenly signing over the odds deals), and increased Merch sales worldwide as their visibility increases (also a lot of Camel punchers have been refusing to by Zebra-tat for for a few years as it bolsters Sport Direct's profits)

The only way football could save itself isn't relaxing FFP/STCC, it's through the introduction of budget caps. No 'tax' for going over budget (they won't care) but point deductions.

Sadly, it will never happen. That horse bolted a long time ago.

I think it still could.
I believe football is getting stale enough.
