Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Mancini won them the fa cup and league in his 3 years. Spent £320mill over the period.

Now...prices are double what they were in 2009-2013
Yeah fair enough.

The additional hurdle for Newcastle compared to 2009 is that City entered this rarified world as the only state-backed operation and the PL wasn’t quite so financially dominant as it is today.

Right now in England you can be one of the top 15 richest clubs in the world but only the 6th/7th richest in the league.

Newcastle are now attempting to disrupt a very well-established hierarchy that won’t suddenly become weaker just because another club has moved in.

This is brutally tough. There will probably be some missteps along the way.

These guys could spend £205mil today and write off the depreciation on the books over the 3 year cycle.

But they could also bring in ways to move around the rules and spend far more.

Theres nothing stopping them spending £500mil+ as long as they then sell players and bring in massive revenue streams.

Also, to build a team, they could sign Bissouma + Ward-Prowse and Kessie in Jan to sort their midfield. Sign Tarkowski and even Mina as centre backs and bring in Zaha.

These guys could easily lodge a £200mil double bid for Richarlison and DCL.

The ball is in Newcastles court at the moment and, bearing in mind they have 8 of 13 of their next games against, Chelsea Spurs United Liverpool Leicester Arsenal City and Everton...to take them into 1st Jan opening of the window...

...there will be alot of clubs hoping that they are under 15pts by 20 games. Would they be able to achieve 25pts from the remaining matches?

Im hoping they struggle until Jan and then spend a fortune on emergency signings and get relegated.

That would really harm them on the profit and sustainability rules and they would find it hard to shift players who were signed to escape relegation.

From pushing football investment in the country and subsequent investment overseas Xi Jinping has clamped down as there was too much money leaving China.

Im not sure why they or a huge Chinese investment fund would takeover any club now.

They can do that, and if what Staveley and others say is true, I would be surprised if they didnt.

The Tarkowskis of this world are, right now, what is attainable for a club of Newcastle's current level to attract. They're fighting relegation, not immediately looking to push to be a CL team.

So it'll be a slow process.

But they have a lot of money to spend and they can spend it, they have got a fair bit of scope with P&L.

Which is fine, but they are not going to be challenging for the top 6, never mind the title with Tarkowskis of this world.

Maybe not straight away but some suggestions that they want a partnership of Ragnick/Favre are going about means they clearly want to build things in the proper way but I would'nt expect them to do anything for a good 4-5 years at least.

I only hope Newcastle buy players from abroad, giving Leicester villa arsenal and leeds 100s of millions gives them the chance to go on to another level.

Someone needs to ask one of the Sly Sports dumbwits if this is good for football as a whole and if so, how exactly?

TBF seeing those whoppers act in the way they have these last few days is good for football; people can see for themselves their real attitude to the fight against sexism and homophobia (and probably racism as well TBF). They are just shills.

Not sure that is the proper way - it might have been for Ashley’s time (when they were actually run as a business) but this lot are surely not going to accept patient development of players / upgrades over time.
