yes, but he had done very very well with a very weakened saints team. he didn't start off well and then give up and lapse into relegation form, so bad, that he needed binning off and a firefighter brought in to rescue the club
No, but that's pretty much what happened at Espanyol.
They were bottom after 13 games with 9 points and let him go.

Very very well? Are you sure?

I mean if we're using Pochettino as a comparison it seems fair to look at the season he took over half way through, because that's what people are judging Silva's time at Hull on. He took over Southampton in January and managed to oversee a whopping 4 victories before the end of the season, including a massively impressive 0 in the last 6 games, leading to an astronomical leap of 1 league position.

You are aware that they all don’t walk into mega clubs at an early age like Guardiola aren’t you?

I mean, Emery who just took over Arsenal had spells at Lorca Deportiva and Almeria.

What are you actually expecting here?
love the way you just skirt passed his last club, PSG....

Ok so the facts about that are

He took over an already seemingly relegated side and gave them a fighting chance of survival. and got relegated

He had Watford doing better than they had ever done before. and turned them in to relegation candidates with 9pts from 33 and got sacked

Agreed?

yes mate

he has never managed porto.

and by your way of thinking we should be all over roy hodgson who kept palace up and actually got them a mid table finish when they hadn't even scored a goal let alone got a point.

He managed Lisbon, my mistake.

And no that's not my logic. Hodgson is in his 70s and achieved nothing of note with any team he ever managed, at club or international level. Crystal Palace have some decent players in their squad like Sakho, Benteke, Cabaye, Von Bronckhorst, Dann. All he achieved there was organising them and getting their form back up to their normal levels.

Silva is very young, flexible in his tactical approach, won trophies in more than one country, went an entire season unbeaten and got very limited outfits in Hull and Watford to perform well above their talent levels.

If you don't agree he's the man for the job fair enough but don't twist what I was trying to say, trying to infer that I think someone like Hodgson is good enough for us is absolutely moronic.

So your whole problem is that he got relegated with Hull?

Martinez got relegated with Wigan, had a record breaking points season with us in the PL and is now managing one of the favourites for the World Cup.

You are dismissing him as he went down with Hull? Is that what this comes down to?
