Maybe.

I think history is a decent indicator of the future and his history indicates that even if he comes to Everton, he wouldn't be here for very long.

I'm not against him - I'm just not excited at the prospect. Same feeling as I had to the considerable calls for Laudrup after Moyes left.

Nobody knows for certain, nobody is 'correct' - all opinions.

It's a strange old time...primarily I'm excited at the prospect of a new manager, it's long overdue as the previous had gone quite stale and had overstayed considerably IMO but...and it's a MASSIVE but...in the back of m'head I'm hugely concerned that somehow we're not gonna get this right at all. It's an odd feeling...

And it's a quite natural one I suspect that comes through supporting who we do I suppose.

One thing's for sure - it needs boxing off ASAP. I'm not suggesting we 'rush' in, but we need to get everything settled as soon as...

Big week to come I reckon.

I'm fully aware that Koeman didn't have the best start to his managerial career, but for me it's all about how he developed since and learned from his mistakes. Truly believe it's very much underrated what he achieved at Feyenoord, seeing where the club came from and where they were heading. Did a superb job at Soton while every top player was sold underneath him. I know he's very much a youth development coach and that's something that's a very big issue with me. It would be criminal to neglect our academy. Especially at this time.

My feelings exactly mate and its what he has done at Feyenoord and Southampton that really has impressed me, especially the second half od this season when he was under pressure in January. On the youth side thats exactly what i want and he has the track record, my only concern s the longevity but maybe thats modern football.

Agree to that, I'm #campkoeman. Hope I'm correct if he does come. In the end it's not about being right though, it's about what's best for Everton Football Club;)

When I hear that De Boer is very rigid in his style, not very direct and quite possession based it worries me a bit.

But then I remember that we were one of the highest scoring teams in the Premier League. Our problem was conceding goals not scoring them.

As long as we are scoring goals, I am not bothered if it is direct or a slow build up. The test is stopping them going in at the other end.

I have a question for those championing FDB. Do you realise that he'll play the philosophy of possession type football that Martinez did? How do you feel about 3 more years of that and how do you think players like Baines will? I can't believe he'd have such support if more people knew his style. I was initially enthusiastic but after much research I've now gotten to the point I'd happily take Moyes back to avoid FDB. Below is an excerpt from the latest article on him by the Echo and a vid for a visual representation of what to expect.

"Bart Hinke writes for Dutch national newspaper NRC Handelsblad and having covered de Boer during his time at Ajax, believes that their recently-departed coach has so far been more rigid in his approach than his more experienced countryman.

Hinke said: “When de Boer was talking about a sabbatical it was a realistic option that he would travel the world and talk to great football men to try and reinvent himself as a manager because he must sense his style of play has been a bit too robotic at times.

“His game is very much based on possession football and passing so if what we hear about Everton over the past couple of years is true then I guess Frank de Boer is like a Dutch version of Martinez.”

No cup of cheer
Evertonians might be forgiven for breaking out in a cold sweat following that last sentence but given that success in a cup competition arguably remains the Blues most viable route to success, to make matters worse, there is the thorny issue of de Boer's blank cabinet when it comes to knockout trophies although there seems to be somewhat mitigating circumstances over his supposedly unimpressive CV in continental combat.

Hinke said: “De Boer did not win any Dutch Cups, just one Johan Cruyff Shield [the Dutch equivalent of the Community Shield].

“He hasn't won any silverware in the past two years which was a disappointing end to his career at Ajax even though in his last season he ended up getting the most points in his tenure. They finished second to PSV Eindhoven after failing to win at De Graafschap on the last day which was a great cock up.”"

Think is though for the most part Martinez got it right attacking wise so I don't mind someone coming in with similar beliefs it's the defensive side that needs work and as poor as the Dutch league is Ajax's defensive record was brilliant.

LVG? He is not past it yet, and expected 2 more years in the North West.

De Boer focuses on defensive play apparently
