That's why if Mourinho is not on the table any longer, the best option available would probably be Emery. In my opinion.
Has found consistent success in Spain and Europe with massive financial constraints.

Followed in quick succession by Pellegrini.

Emery is decent, but no away league wins this season.

I have serious question marks over De Boer.
I've watched Ajax in the Europa League, over a couple years and they were a dreadful side.

4 in a row by all means is not to be sniffed at but he has been knocked off his perch by Cocu at PSV the last two years.
Fair comment about De Boer, i should have also added Cocu to that list.

Pellegrini (since joining City in 20013) - 1 PL, 2 League Cups, 59.9 win %
Mourinho (since rejoining Chelsea in 2013) - 1 PL, 1 League Cup, 58.8 win %

Now pipe down. If people were seriously wanting Mourinho, then Pellegrini should certainly not have been dismissed based on a shoddy year.

Why do i care about win percentage fella? 1 PL and 2 LC in my eyes is not a good return considering the riches and the squad he has had at Manchester City.

For me the problem with Martinez wasn't the idea of possession based football. It was the fact that he couldn't or wouldn't organise a defence.
Not many blues were complaining when we were playing arsenal off the pitch at the Emirates in his first season or snotting them at Goodison.
If De Boer can organise a defence, I am perfectly happy for us to play possession football.

That clip of the Ajax goal is funny actually. They play it round the back and centre for a bit. try the left wing then the right wing and have to go back again. Then a defender gets bored and launches it. That's not total football in my book.
If De Boers more defensively sound version of possession brought success I'd happily take it but it seems unlikely that would happen - our best chance of silverware is a cup and De Boer's style failed to win one in 6 years with the best team in Holland.

Aye, but on the basis of previous seasons and the fact he's won 3 EL's in a row with otherwise decent league finishes, also in the copa del rey final to be played soon.
Sometimes things go wrong.

Yeah I get it and I'm a fan, but that is an unreal stat.

Any more riches than what has been thrown around by other clubs though?
See United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool et cetera et cetera.

....I have no preference but I think we need somebody to come in and put building blocks in place. I'm not sure of Pelligrini or Mourinho's record of building something as opposed to taking over an already successful team. Somebody started a good thread about the skills required for our new manager and I think that's exactly what Moshiri's team will be doing, they will have a set of competency criteria and see which candidates have the best profile against it.

Pellegrini has a good record of building things if you look at his Villereal and Malaga spells.

That's my only concern with Pellegrini. However, he done very well at Villareal and Malaga (not too sure how much rebuilding was required) which gives me the confidence that he is prepared to do the nitty gritty. I don't believe that there is one candidate that all fans would be happy and agree with. Tough decision for Mr Moshiri but needs to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

I think Koeman is doing at Southampton what Moyes was doing at Everton all those years ago. Fair play to him.

Fans have a tendency to look at just the last year or two in isolation - wider picture for Koeman;

I look at all those teams, he has been quickly moved on in succession and wonder...

Nothing about his employment history screams "sign him up".
