If De Boers more defensively sound version of possession brought success I'd happily take it but it seems unlikely that would happen - our best chance of silverware is a cup and De Boer's style failed to win one in 6 years with the best team in Holland.
Maybe that's because they were concentrating more on the league.

....my concern is whether he still has the desire to do that again at this stage in his life/career. We need somebody with a real vision who fully buys into the strategy to make the club great again. It will take a while.
He's 62. It's not like he's on deaths door. He's younger than Ranieri.

First time poster. I would take De Boer. Cocu has done well but most people think he has a much better team at his disposal and Ajax turned around over a 10 point deficit from the previous season which shows De Boer has the ability to adapt and recover from a bad season.

The main reason I want De Boer is that I don't think Martinez was all bad. He helped turn the club around from a mid table team albeit the best mid table team that played mid table style football and instead had us going toe to toe with the top teams. I think the last game of the season showed that our kids have real potential and what we need is Martinez without the faults. In other words 2 wingers, one holding midfielder, 2 box to box midfielders, good defensive organization and the ability to press. Martinez had the right idea and now we just need someone who knows how to put those ideas into practice and has experience bringing through kids playing the right way plus Ajax has good players and coaches and he might be able to bring some with him.

Hopefully Utd will announce Mourinho soon and we will make a decision one way or another.

Yeah - that Ranieri wouldn't have a chance would he? He's so old and inflexible, neurologically - he wouldn't be able to adapt to the resources he was given and make a fist of keeping them up.
I've got no arguments about Ranieri. He's done amazingly.

You'll always find exceptions. I was expressing a generalised opinion.

Why would anyone argue against the guy? Gets his team firing at home and gets a decent amount of points away usually. Based on his low amount of draws, he's not one to settle, he will go for the win at 1-1 and sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. Better off winning 2 and losing 1 than drawing 3 times!

I have gone for Pellegrini.
The more I think about it,the more I'm struck on the idea, yep, maybe he's "getting on"the flip side is he'll probably look at us as his last job,so he'll be here for the long haul to build something,he's built clubs, managed Real Madrid, and won titles, yeah he's made mistakes, but over a long career who wouldn't?He's also available.

I think the general consensus is that there is no prefect manager out there. They all have their failures and issues. I still go with Pelligrini although he seems to be less an option for us as time goes on, he just seems to fit the bill for me.
Outside him and Mourinho, about whom I have severe doubts as Everton manager, I wouldn't go for a Premier league manager.
Emery would be a good call but will he leave Spain for the north of England. I was in Seville for a while last year, it is a very nice place.
De Boer looks like the he is to be the one, his brand of keep ball is worrying given what we have been through but he is more defensively minded although Stam isn't part of the perceived package.
Change is such an unsettling thing.

Moshy going big lads ya'll thinking too small time. It'll be Jose as manager with Pellegrini as assistant and Frank De Boer First-team coach. Moshy don't funk around.

He was sacked after 5 months in Russia and as far as I'm aware that is the only other time he has managed outside Spain.
