In all honesty i'm not so much disappointed with Koeman more underwhelmed, having said that might be because i would have won more money on Emery hahaha.

In truth the future of Everton looks very, very fruitful. Big summer ahead for recruitment, stadium on the horizon. Ohhhh Everton you have me singing the blues.

Koemans everton will be massively different to Moyes Everton.

Success is no longer a bonus.. Its expected (once the dust settles) and will no doubt be drawn into the managers contract.
Not trying to argue, but what makes you think it's expected? The fact that we finally kicked out an underperforming manager after two years of agonizing football? Or the fact that our top managerial target is a guy that, in nearly the past decade, has been sacked at two different clubs and has achieved nothing of note.

I want to agree with you. I really do. But none of this proves to me we are ready to start operating like a top club. Maybe this summer will change that, but until then, I remain skeptical. Would love to hear your point of view though, as I don't enjoy being a pessimist...

The thing is, I am not sure Koeman is a "higher class of manager" than those you mention :(

To me he is that self same "middle of the road" type of manager but because he has the perceived advantage of being foreign we are judging him by a different yardstick

Put it this way.....if he was British instead of Dutch, I honestly think we would all be feeling a bit deflated with Ronald coming aboard.
Its a case of one step at a time though,City started off with Hughes, we see ourselves as a big club but others dont, what other managers could we have realistically got?

What alternative are you looking for, exactly? By the best accounts available we've spoken to Mourinho, approached Simeone and offered Emery a contract. None of those three worked out. We interviewed Pellegrini and deemed him unsuitable. Where do you see a better option than Koeman that's realistically available at this point?

If we'd offered Mourinho or Pep £25M a year we would have gotten either. If we'd offered Wenger £20M a year he would be with us. I'd have swapped both Lukaku and Stones for the best manager. I smell Bill's penny pinching in this.......we will end up paying £5M a year for someone who will win nothing, whereas getting the right man in would pay for itself with our first trophy........

I would also say it sends out a pretty big message to the media if it happens, plucky little Everton have just stolen a manager off a team that has European football next season thanks to the lromiserver of big wages and traanger funds, the media will actually pick up their ears and see we mean business.
Are you having a stroke there lad

Oh im the most pessimistic Blue about mate.
I can however spot a massive change.
This change will be tough for loads to get their heads round.

For example. We have got the new owners top pick. Fine.

Next, it's natural to look at his current players and think fantasy football.. Who would we take from Southampton.
Old Everton. We'd take the goalie Forster.
Old Everton. But he has just signed a new contract.

New Everton. Arsed. How much do you want then ?

It's chalk and cheese now.

There are no guarantees in football. Ask Chelski about the season just finished, having finished the previous season as Champions...

Jesus, Koeman hasn't even been confirmed, and yet some are already in melt down mode.

But we have regressed massively since the Moyes days. Koeman's first job will be to sort things out so that we are no longer languishing behind Stoke and Southampton. A 6th or 7th placed finish next season actually will represent progress.
How often do we finish behind Stoke and/or Southampton?

Btw, just googled a question about aging beef and in the margin is a link reading 'Koeman to Everton'

Aye carumba......so we've suddenly gone from "plucky Everton" to paying managers almost double what City do (and triple what Barca pay)? Wow.
