If we'd offered Mourinho or Pep £25M a year we would have gotten either. If we'd offered Wenger £20M a year he would be with us. I'd have swapped both Lukaku and Stones for the best manager. I smell Bill's penny pinching in this.......we will end up paying £5M a year for someone who will win nothing, whereas getting the right man in would pay for itself with our first trophy........

I have to disagree. Mourinho wanted the Utd job and has done for several years. It's a personal ambition of his. Guardiola went to City because they have the richest owners in the world and a fantastic infrastructure - something we can't compete with at present. 66 year-old Wenger has no interest in starting another project from scratch.

That's without even contemplating the fact we'd be paying circa £10m above the market value in salary in your hypothetical.

Koeman does seem to be quite highly rated, and I'm willing to trust in MoshiMoshi but I do feel like I've been hit with the "you a small club now" hammer after missing out on Jose, Simeone and Emery. Hopefully if he can take Southampton to where they are, he can take us even higher.
Maybe a Monchi will give me some more optimism.

Could it be that Moshiri sees Koeman as a stepping-stone? A reliable manager with proven premier league experience, who, with someone like Monchi assisting and MoshiMoshi's financial backing, will help big up our image on the European (or even global) stage and from there attract the top-class managers/players in the future? Rather than try and go for broke right away by flashing the cash?

My choice was De boer. But I am more than happy with koeman. We need a manager that will give youth a chance. Don't think pelligrini will an he's too old and would emery bring youth players through or just buy mr random foreign guy. We still want to keep a core british players in the team and we have an exciting crop coming through. This should not be lost regardless of money coming into the club. It it's years of hard work in the academy wasted. Let's not loose our identity like chelski or city have.

That's my take on it. Hope anyway.
Accept realistically where we are as a club. Build a foundation to where we want to be.

Bill has no influence over these decisions anymore, believe me.

Its a case of one step at a time though,City started off with Hughes, we see ourselves as a big club but others dont, what other managers could we have realistically got?

Yes, I agree entirely with that.

And at least we are now on the radar of the superstar and potential future superstar managers.

The next appointment after Ronald will be the one which really tells us where we are.

If by that time we are in the new stadium....playing CL football.....few Cups in the cabinet.....then we become the kind of club your Joses and Peps aspire to manage ;)
