He just finished 3 points outside the top 4 in his second year at a club who keep selling their best players. In this league - the one we play in.
He has a winning pedigree as a player - has played at the highest level. This is a big improvement for us.

Improvement on Martinez Yearh. " us " nope. And no he's not done bad but other clubs around last season did

Yeah happy to turn us down, then he finds out what we're offering Emery and then suddenly he's back knocking on the door. I'd have swerved him to be honest.

Oh come off it mate. He was haggling - negotiating the best deal. By the looks of it, just what Emery was doing - before turning us down!

I know you've beat the Emery drum from the start, and just like you I think he'd be an excellent appointment. But Koeman, should it go through, would be very impressive.

FDB is not going to be our manager, hes a massive gamble id rather bring back someone like moyes to steady ship then be relegated playing possession football like fdb

I know koemans dutch. What does that have to do with all the other foreign managers we could attract for the absurd sums banded around?

FDB and Cocu are winners....proven from the ground up....i would rather go for them than an average bloke whose mostly failed in his career.

Erm....in the Dutch league. Doesn't prove much.

'not done bad'?

Two consecutive record points totals and European finishes with Southampton on a negative net spend (missed that phrase), while the better players were sold.

He's done a fantastic job at Southampton. Poch got his move after doing half the work, and was challenging for the title up until the final week of the season.

Perspective...

Off the net for a day and just logged in to find it's koeman now n not Emery!!
We spoken to koeman or using us to get better deal at Soton?

There is a hell of a lot of negativity regarding Keoman's potential appointment and a lot of it is caused by the disappointment of not landing Emery. Most contributors on here had not even heard of Emery til a few weeks ago, then he became flavour of the month. Apart from his cup wins, his record is not as impressive as Keoman's. And look what happened last time we appointed a manager on the strength of a cup win.

I dont want either of them but Emerys track record is massively superior to Koemans...
