If Moshiri pulls off the second part of his dream team (and who would bet against him), then it's likely that Monchi will be doing the spending. So I would seriously doubt we'd end up with a load of dross for our money!
Yes, I'm wondering if this is already done, now what an announcement that would be.

'Everton FC would like to announce the arrival of the new Manager and DoF'

Game on

He's quite comfortably the worst player in our squad, is nowhere near a "definite" starter and only got a new contract because he's a local lad.

Glad you could confirm. My Saints supporting mates all say he's good to bring on like a special team NFL player when you have a direct free kick.

You happy with Koeman mate?

Not so much not "happy" as totally underwhelmed by the appointment.

Maybe it is the Martinez effect because three years ago I was genuinely excited by his appointment only to see it all turn to dust so I am more cynical now.

Someone pointed out to me last night when I was saying how flat I feel about Koeman, the City project started with them appointing Mark Hughes, himself "a proven Premier league manager with an outstanding playing pedigree" and working their way up to Pep from there.

I thought that made perfect sense and puts the Koeman deal in context.

At the moment we are not the attraction we would like to be, huge investment or not.

So we sign the best we can and hope our stock starts to rise.

The next managerial appointment at EFC after Koeman might see us able to pick fruit from a considerably higher branch on the tree.

Imagine by that time we are in the CL and playing in a beautiful new stadium by the river.

Meantime though I will wish Ronald all the best and get behind him 100% :)

As I imagine you and everyone else will ;)

I would have thought that if we do get Koeman in the end, Southampton will only finally accept with a clause in place that explicitly prevents us from signing their players for at least a season or three.

Unfortunatly the like of Lacazette to replace Rom will not be possible as other teams will be in for him, able to match the fee and salary but able to offer CL or EU. Top tier players would be available after we make CL so we have to be clever about who we pick: good players with potential but not the creme de la creme.

I've been thinking about this overnight. I'm absolutely delighted with Koeman. As others have said, he's like a mix between Martinez and Moyes. He has done great with Southampton after they lost a few key players, and he is fantastic with the youth. Everton are a team with a lot of potential, a lot of players who like to play a particular style - which will suit Koeman. We have a great group of youth players, and the money to bring in players who we need - who we can't bring up from the youth.

I think it'll be a great signing.
