You are a bigger club, and can you can offer him things that Saints can't, but that doesn't change the fact you have to overhaul your squad, which is not a easy thing to do, even with a lot of money, look at Liverpool, United and Newcastle.

In pure footballing terms, I'd argue that the Saints squad is stronger than Everton's at the moment. After your summer of investment this might change, but Koeman is taking a risk saying that I am the main for the big overhaul, it's high risk high reward, and you can understand why some people would see it as a risk not worth taking for Koeman.

Come on now, leave us be while we make sweet love to your ex.

You don't want to be around to hear the grunting of a manager join a successful team.

I'd be happy to argue that with you, IF we keep hold of our current squad. We had a top 5 squad with a Championship Manager this past season.
If we keep hold of them and add 4 or 5 quality additions with the Moshiri funds then I would expect to be pushing for top 5.

The very fact we have to overhaul our squad is directly why Koeman is approriate right now for us.

We need solid progress over the next two to three years so that an elite manager I.e Emery/Jose fancies it more , probably with a lovely new stadium to lead the team into.

I agree mate that we need some obvious changes. We need firstly a goalkeeper asap and that will be crucial.

But I'd like to think that we shouldn't be selling unless a crazily strong offer for lukaku comes in. We do however have a young spine who have potential to be superb. I'm a huge stones fan and with the right manager (i.e. one who doesn't bollock him for making a clearance a la roberto) he will out of this world good. Barkley can do whatever he wants too. He has as much ability as Rooney. If Koeman can get him mentally up to speed he has a world beater. Deuolefeu is just the same too. There's plenty to work with there too.

Obviously these are all ifs I've put forward, but if Koeman does rate himself as the top coach he's obviously aspiring to be, then there's opportunities galore with our squad. I haven't even mentioned the kids in the academy who are lighting up the england age groups.

I'm biased but I believe we have plenty to work with even before the huge investment is made.

I was driving on the motorway last year listening to TalkSport (yeah, I know). It was the day that Claudio Ranieri was announced as the new Leicester City Manager. I then listened for a number of hours as a succession of pundits/presenters/callers all proceeded to mock/rip him apart. I was annoyed listening to it and just thought give the guy a chance.

Fast forward to the present day and Ranieri sits on his throne like a boss as the current Premier League Champion. My point is, football (like many aspects of life) is about relationships. Some players/managers just fit a club. Maybe Koeman will be our Ranieri, maybe he won't. Until he's given an opportunity, we won't know.

Not singling you out but I am reading a lot of this.

Barcelona isn't offering Koeman diddly unless he wins a Europa or CL title.
Let's all take a reality pill shall we?

He may be all we can attract at the minute with our standing as a club, but he is no top end Manager.

Want to be clear: I do not think that Barca currently wants Koeman. If I were Barca I wouldn't want him right now. What I mean is that if Koeman is leaving by choice before his contract is up (once he signs for us), he is likely doing it for a massive job (i.e. Barca or other massive job) and he is likely getting that offer because he's done something special here (i.e. winning Europa, PL title, or consistent CL performance).
