I think the signings will all depend on what style of football you will play under Koeman. If your going to copy his saints team playing style, then the transfers might make sense.
Mate, totally understand where you are coming from, we have seen this type of thing happen to us so often in the past with managers and players, the arrival of big money in the premier league isn't always for the best, it is fantastic for us to finally be in a position to compete and have an owner with what seems to be a clear plan for the future, hopefully we wont forget our roots if things do take off for us! good luck to Southampton for the future its a good club and I remember fondly some great away trips to the old dell. don't judge us too harshly by the behaviour and arrogance of some of the clueless bells on here and twitter, In all of this I hope our club and it's supporters retain the class on which we have by and large upheld over the years.

I'd be happy to argue that with you, IF we keep hold of our current squad. We had a top 5 squad with a Championship Manager this past season.
If we keep hold of them and add 4 or 5 quality additions with the Moshiri funds then I would expect to be pushing for top 5.
Let's argue, full strength teams, no injuries. Excuse the [Poor language removed] formatting, but in my mind Lukaku beats Austin, Barkley beats Steven Davis? MAybe James Mccarthy? Stones over Fonte is close, but Fonte's our leader so in my mind gets in for leadership qualities.

Any others?

Edit: Apologies didn't realise about not swearing.

The very fact we have to overhaul our squad is directly why Koeman is approriate right now for us.

We need solid progress over the next two to three years so that an elite manager I.e Emery/Jose fancies it more , probably with a lovely new stadium to lead the team into.
Agree with thst thought.

Going back three years, people can't appreciate exactly what Moyes did for this team. Granted as a reign it achieved nothing of accomplishment but the foundation there was for us, world class. Martinez first season showed just how good the foundation was, and this season alone showed how bad it was without it.

I said it weeks before today thst I wanted koeman to come in. Not the exciting name but he will do what Moyes did, and despite the very short mindsets of fans on here, thst is what we need. We need a squad again, we need defensive solidarity, we need to be able to win games, and see out games.

What many on here won't comprehend in their short sightedness is koeman for the first real time in his career has money to invest. He can build something, he doesn't have to sell his team. Where would Southampton be if they hadn't sold so many first team players? We can find out now.

So many people outside of this fan Base hold koeman in High regard, including Southampton. Now we can find out why, and get behind a manager who will put this team back into a winning mentality again.

Want to be clear: I do not think that Barca currently wants Koeman. If I were Barca I wouldn't want him right now. What I mean is that if Koeman is leaving by choice before his contract is up (once he signs for us), he is likely doing it for a massive job (i.e. Barca or other massive job) and he is likely getting that offer because he's done something special here (i.e. winning Europa, PL title, or consistent CL performance).
Then we agree :)
And we'll be an attractive proposition for the Simeones of the world then ;)

I agree mate that we need some obvious changes. We need firstly a goalkeeper asap and that will be crucial.

But I'd like to think that we shouldn't be selling unless a crazily strong offer for lukaku comes in. We do however have a young spine who have potential to be superb. I'm a huge stones fan and with the right manager (i.e. one who doesn't bollock him for making a clearance a la roberto) he will out of this world good. Barkley can do whatever he wants too. He has as much ability as Rooney. If Koeman can get him mentally up to speed he has a world beater. Deuolefeu is just the same too. There's plenty to work with there too.

Obviously these are all ifs I've put forward, but if Koeman does rate himself as the top coach he's obviously aspiring to be, then there's opportunities galore with our squad. I haven't even mentioned the kids in the academy who are lighting up the england age groups.

I'm biased but I believe we have plenty to work with even before the huge investment is made.
Lukaku is a complete tosspot , though he can score goals.
Any decent offer please bin and get a 15 goal ( pelle) and a creative mid ( wanayama)

Who do you reckon are your best players - just wondering like !!
Forster, is a absolute rock (signed a five year contract about a month ago). Fonte and Van Dijk is superb. Bertrand is a top 5 left-back in the league in my bias opinion. Wanyama is a monster when he can be arsed. Mane is our best attacking player by a mile. Tadic got more goals+assists combined last year than Payet despite coming off the bench for 1/3rd of the matches.

Didn't know koeman was allowed to field 12 players mate lol

Also strikers were rotated, Rodriguez wasn't first choice and neither was tadic. Actually from what I come accross they expect tadic to leave this summer.

Wanayama is no creative mid :-) He would offer other qualities though such as a huge physical presence and good ball winner.

Yup I was thinking Mane and Tadic would be good additions !
