Have to say, I am LOVING the way S'hampton - and other - fans cannot get their heads around Everton August 2016 being a completely different proposition from Everton August 2015. Long may their laughable ignorance continue; they won't know what's hit them. I was thinking we'd have a slower, Hughes/City takeoff, but the widespread clownish ignorance of what's about to go down with us is DELICIOUS!

The most ironic thing is that it's actually the RS that are the only ones that seem to get it!

I'm fully expecting to wake up tomorrow and hear Koeman has jibbed us off and we're 'exploring other options'

Nobody does a protracted contractual saga quite like our beloved blues
Hopefully for the last time mate. The prior regime is all but gone. Martinez would have been sacked months ago under Mr Moshiri. Stay patient a week longer...then we can have our annual Summer Transfer Thread meltdown.

Let's argue, full strength teams, no injuries. Excuse the [Poor language removed] formatting, but in my mind Lukaku beats Austin, Barkley beats Steven Davis? MAybe James Mccarthy? Stones over Fonte is close, but Fonte's our leader so in my mind gets in for leadership qualities.

Any others?

--------------Forster--------------
Cedric (RB) ---- Van Dijk ---- Fonte ------Bertrand
-----------------Wanyama------------------
-------------Romeu------Davis------------
Tadic------------Mane-------------Jrod
-----------------Austin------------------

Edit: Apologies didn't realise about not swearing.

Feels weird that my 1st post on here is to reply to a 'friendly' saints fan, but anyway....
If and a big IF, considering the season we had with fitness, FULL STRENGTH team (no injuries, up to speed etc) then
out of the team sheet you put there and the players in our team then....

Defence: Both full backs do not have to simultaneously bomb forward, nice when it works but you're there to defend also!

Forster in goal (Robles did well and then just just, well started well)
Coleman (any discussion?)
Stones (the dutch guy would like to be, but really not got the stones)
Jagielka (seriously how does he NOT get in the England squad, when he's played more games than Cahill and he has to play LCB to compensate
for Cahill. Also does that role for Stones! It wasn't Terry who was crap for Chelsea it was Bolton boy wonderless! Jags got rubbish reviews
for the world cup but like terry he was more concerned with covering that entrail. Jags even played RB to allow that dimwit to play RCB
for England! Retire Jags you're better than them! (not that I'm biased or anything but...aagghh)
Baines (really, how is there a doubt? Garbutt will be ahead of Bertrand, but that's after Leighton!)

Midfield: 2 Holding mids, who should be able fill and gaps when full back(s) go forward. As you had an extra player I'm adjusting it slightly so my
mid is....

Wanyama (not as intelligent as Barry but would be quicker to get to the danger)
McCarthy (edged Barry on his ability to be free and not have to try and cover a slower better/more intelligent? player)

Up Front: With 2 holding midfielders, these guys can either be wide or cut inside as per their preference!

Delefeou (special if he realises what the Team game requires)
Barkley (if this guy has players making space for him, to pass or move into, then wow! Unbelievably underrated even by his own 'fans'
Mirallas (Tho' he seems to be another that needs to respect the Team ethic, he is a match winner!

Something I'm not quite getting here. If Koeman does well then his dream move to Barca is on and we can move on to a classier manager? Erm, if he's worthy of the Barca job at that point then would he not be one of the "classiest" managers in world football?

Simple, my friend.

And axiomatic I should have thought, but there ya go.

It ain't where we started with Koeman, it is where we are when we are finished with him.

We had been hoping for Jose a week or two ago and when that failed to come off we lowered our sights to Emery and some forlornly hoped even Simeone was a possibility.

But the field was restricted in the end due to our lack of standing on the bigger stage and Ronald was the best we could attract.

Next time round we hope Ronald has upped our profile and if in the process he moves up to a higher level and we are looking for a new manager, then we will be more likely to lure whoever the most sought after managers du jour happen to be.

The "classier field" being managers then off a higher reputation and with a more successful pedigree than Ronald has now.

Just like City kept upping their standards and arrived at Pep via Mark Hughes, Roberto Mancini and Pellegrini.

They were never going to get the likes of Pep or Jose when they were looking for a manager in the early years of the Mansoor. revolution.
