He has a holiday arranged.

He signs the contract.

Official announcement delayed because in the first place he does not want the press hounding him and his family on the beach, looking for a quote.

And the club want to make the announcement when he is at a Goodison press conference and can in fact be pictured waving a scarf and EFC can indulge in all the razzmatazz that surrounds the appointment of a new guvnor

I hate to say it SO EFFING early but this is not great. I read this week about Koeman taking on his manager in Dudeks book, and other stories. Thie downside of this guys confidence is his arrogance. Everton is not just another club. He needs to be able to get the club and make the fans feel great, Moyes was very good at this, Rafael xcellent. He's got a twenty million pound contract and he's kept us waitng ten King days to sign it. So what if he'd booked his hols, would you continue your hols in such a situation?
Can you imagine Mourinho keeping United waiting by going on holiday, or well, anyone?
It smacks of arrogance, and it's the sort of big time Charlie behaviour that you might be able to get away with at Soton but entirely not here.

Personally I'm happy he takes a long holiday before getting down to work and I don't think it indicative of any problem. But, like you, I'm surprised he hasn't flown back for one day to sign, do the interviews and hold up the jersey before flying back and then staying for a day or two extra.
It's been 2 or 3 days now since compo was agreed so if he signs early next week that means he's chosen to leave club and fans waiting for up to a week. Seems a strange way to start a new high profile position and tallies with his style at SFC where he tended to give the players a lot of days off so he could be with his family. It'll be fine if everything goes well but if we're doing poorly next season and it leaks out that he's giving a lot of days off it'll be interesting to see what the attitude is then. I'd hasard a guess it'd change.
