Despite the fact we'd lose Deulofeu I like the look of Unai Emery. Out of contract in the summer. A winner.

Only problem is he rates McGeady.

You can't place too much importance on winning football matches then... At the end of the day that's all I'm going to judge him by, if there's vast improvements between now and May I wouldn't mind him staying.
Having watched Everton for over 40 years I know we have no divine right to win games, and that the likelihood is that there will always be spells when we underperform. Also, having like many spent Christ knows how much time, money and effort following us up and down the country and across Europe to watch too often a team that won't come out of it's own half and have a go I find the current goal-scoring attitude it bit more entertaining.
Keeping clean sheets will get you 38 points, scoring goals will statistically get you more.....oh, and goals entertain.
My biggest dislike in football is short-termism brought bout by Sky and the clamour for everyone to be sacked if they go on a 2-3 game losing streak. It's simply my opinion, no need for you to share it.

I was just throwing names out there, seen there teams a few times and liked the footy on show, and think they would walk here to get are job.
I would bet if we did need a manager , he hasnt been named on here yet.
If we get new owners god knows what way they will think, want, might go for a big name or go for stability ?
We will not have a say in it that's for sure.

Exactly....American owners could easily mean Bob Bradley. Be careful for what we wish for.....

but for all of that Stoke is still only in 9th, he has stoke playing well but he's not capable of getting a team into CL consistently. If we're going to replace Martinez we need to get someone who is a vastly obvious upgrade

Man Utd and Liverpool with their megabucks spending and (on-paper) top class managers, are struggling to consistently get into the CL. Chelsea, with Mourinho, a good squad and a [Poor language removed] load of money, plummeted like a stone this season and will unlikely get into the CL. I think asking for consistent CL qualification after just a management change is an unrealistic expection - not even Guardiola could do that as things stand. The squad and the club need to be drastically overhauled before that happens - there's simply too much conjestion at the top and we can't compete on the money front. Chelsea/Utd/City/Arsenal are the only teams with the resources to EXPECT CL qualification every year. Not only do we need to permanently topple one of them out of the top 4, Liverpool and Tottenham are also looking to do the same (spurs are looking in the best place to do it and it's taken more than a manager change to get that in place), while any other number of teams are trying to take our current upper mid-table spot.

Leicester could well do it this season (with the few injuries and long breaks between games they've had) but will they do it next season when the squad is stretched?! I really doubt it. Would love to see them win the league though.

Until we get a sugar-daddy in who is able to give a top manager the money he needs to build a great squad, I'd settle for Hughes. For me he's definitely an upgrade on Martinez and will give closer to the sort of stability we had under Moyes. Stoke should really be in a cup final this year with us, if there was any justice in football.

I'm old fashioned, but I'd love us to be a cup team as a priority. Aiming to win a cup each year and really gunning for it. Get into the Europa league and win that. Get into the CL from there. I don't like the idea of going for 4th above everything and celebrating when you get there. Give me the FA Cup any day!

Stoke, are 9th, as was pointed out. But only 4 pts separates them from 5th. We're as close to them as they are to 5th and Man Utd! If that Stoke team had someone like Lukaki in it, they'd be challenging for CL spots. They've just been short of goals.

Temptation is always a foreign manager with no premier league experience who'll come in promising sexy football, but deliver the same thing that Martinez is doing.

As unpopular as the poll suggests it would be, I'd ideally like Mark Hughes. He's transformed Stoke. They have a clear Plan A and Plan B now - they're capable of playing decent football, and dogged football if it needs it. That's what I'd like from Everton. I'd like to see us play nice attractive football when possible, but know that we can go in and boss a team into submission. He knows the league and has experience managing big clubs with big expectations... and you just know that he despises the r/s!

Oh, and I'd not object to him giving Butland, Bojan, Shaqiri and Shawcross a lift in his car on the way to Goodison!!!

Of all the clubs he's managed, he's failed at the ones with big expectations (Man C and QPR). He does better with low expectations where there's less scrutiny on his tactics, style of play etc.

Mark Hughes? Seriously?

I'd have Moyes back over Hughes. He consistently outpeformed Hughes in almost all the seasons they were in the league together. If people wouldn't have Moyes over disrespectful comments when trying to sign our players then I suggest they look back to the Lescott saga.

With the PL money we'd have our choice of managers from around Europe.

My criteria are, organised and proven ability at winning.

Number 1 choice would be Unai Emery. Won 2 Europa Leagues in a row, regular CL qualification with Valencia and Sevilla. Has openly spoken about wanting to work in England and name checked us as a Europa League team he rated last year.

Number 2 would be Andre Villa Boas. Yes, he did badly at Chelsea, the job came too early for him. But he got Tottenham 72 points when managing them and his record with Porto and Zenit is ridiculously good.

Number 3 would be Lucien Favre. He has a track record of exciting but organised football and is a specialist at getting young players into the first team.

All of these managers are out of contract in the summer and would probably jump at the chance to come.

Oh I completely agree with your last bit, but if we reach the season's end in our current situation then that's not a 3 game blip, it's 2 years...

are we trying to make the CL or be the steady 7th we were under moyes?

We should be aiming to do better than we currently are. As it happens I think getting top 4 would require a semi miracle from whoever in charge, unless there's another season like this in which so many big clubs struggle (I don't think that'll be the case for a while).

Only had one season with City, around the time of the takeover. He finished 10th - their second highest PL finish at the time (9th was the highest). He was popular with a lot of the fans. Didn't really get a chance.

And QPR was not a big club. They had just been promoted! What did they have such lofty (loftus) expectations for?!?! His points in 2011/12 arguably kept them up, and Harry was as much to blame for their relegation.

Don't want him sacked, but voted in the hypothetical situation that he gets sacked. Jose: hates the RS; reputation on the line; siege mentality which we need. Never going to happen. Wouldn't want anyone else on that list.
WHat are your thoughts on Eddie Howe mate?

EVERTON 2016-17!!!!

I actually don't think Hughes is all that bad. He'd be far from my 1st choice though.

Don't know why we don't go for Mourinho - big name and other than United where could he go? Just got to pay his wages, but thats the reality if you want to improve.

Another one who hasn't been mentioned in the Poll - why not Harry Redknapp? Bad at QPR yes, but good everywhere else, won trophies - good record both offensively and defensively - and a good record of bringing players through.
