To be fair Pochettino's English wasn't great when he was at Southampton but it's improved massively.

Pochettino didn't do interviews in English, but his English may have been OK. I do not see how Emery will communicate well with the majority of the British squad if he cannot express himself to players. His English is a massive concern.

It's time to believe mate, and I'm not just saying that from blind optimism. We are, for the first time in decades, in a position to compete for the best talent, and our history shows when we can do that, we are successful.
It's a great time to be a blue, again.

That doesn't rule out managers who have experience winning minor European leagues (outside England, Germany, Italy, Spain). That would be a major concern for me. They need major league title wins and/or European trophy success. If not, what is the point of change?

Lighten up Dave. The Esk is telling us that ambition has returned to the boardroom of Everton and you're worried that we might only end up with a multiple trophy winner not from one of Europe's top leagues. In the world of managers there's not just Mourinho then Martinez with nothing in between. There are some hugely talented managers who will jump at the chance for a premier league project backed with real ambition. It's not a shortlist of Jose Pep or may as well stick with Roberto.

Cast your mind back to the supposed interview process to succeed Moyes. Neville Unsworth Stubbs all apparently interviewed by Kenwright before we plumped for a manager who had won one meaningful trophy in his career and had relegated a side. If the stories surrounding that recruitment process are accurate that's a criminal lack of ambition when the likes of Southampton were picking up Pochettino then Koeman, West Ham with Bilic, and now Newcastle with Benitez.

We're now in a completely different ball park. Put the worry away. Let the good times roll.

You might be right, although I don't know why Pochettino would speak with his players in English and then not in interviews. Can't say I know enough about Emery to comment on his English.

Reading through the "worst Premier League signings of the season" thread and my support for Pellegrini is dropping as I realize City have about 4 of them.

AVB or Benitez are better in my opinion than Pellegrini (poor defence)or Koeman(average track record)

Pellegrini has been at Man City for three seasons.

In his first year they had the best attack and the 2nd best defence
In his second year they had the best attack and the 5th best defence
In his third and final year they have the best attack and the 5th best defence, currently

Think this "poor defence" stuff is a bit of a myth - what I would say is that they've been reliant on Kompany and when he hasn't been available, City's defensive record is much poorer - his injuries haven't helped but their record is still pretty respectable, given how attacking they are and that they've been the top scorers in each PL season he's been there.

Simple. He didn't want to be taken out of context by his less than perfect English language skills. By speaking in his native language, he was able to pick exactly what he wanted to say and express himself as he intended, without the worry of making a verbal mis-step in English.

That is criminal really:

Neville Unsworth Stubbs all apparently interviewed by Kenwright

This is Everton FC.

Not Bootle FC.

None of those listed there has enough experience for the role and should never have been interviewed.
