As mentioned previously we are using a specialist search company to assist so I would not be surprised if we had contacted him, but I have no specific knowledge of it.

Ah, missed that post. Thought it might be something like that. Thanks for clarifying.

Favre did extremely well at Gladbach did he not? Sleeping giant like ourselves? Only their era was the seventies I believe.

If not Mourinho he sounds an interesting candidate.

Put them firmly and permanently (so far) back at the top table. Well, the table below Bayern and Dortmund. Had no money though. Plus, with football that I think would be incredibly suited to the Prem.

The only possible (and admittedly unlikely) reason the club haven't announced Martinez is leaving is because the club think that they can use that as some kind of leverage when negotiating with any prospective new managers.

I can imagine Kenwright... "Well Jose, you're a great man, a great manager, I think you'd be great for this club, BUT we're still undecided about what's going to happen to Bobby. Maybe if you knock a couple a mill off you're wage demands then we could possibly look at moving him on and bringing you in. What do you say?"

I hope to god that Kenwright is nowhere near the next decision being made.

I'm not sold on Favre. He upped and left Gladbach after their poor start last season, and in that pre-season, was quoted as saying Gladbach had failed to attract any of their top targets for their Champions League campaign and that some of the players approached even laughed off the idea of joining them. That may well have been the case, but a manager should not go public with that type of information, its demoralising and indicates naivety and poor judgement.

He did certainly well (in relative terms) at Gladbach and Hertha, I would have 7-8 names ahead of him in any list of potential new managers. Koeman would be one of them, and I'm underwhelmed by him. IMO his PL experience would give him an advantage over Favre in the scenario of a two-horse race. I would have nagging doubts over Favre's ability to cut it in the heat of the PL.

Found that a bit odd myself.

Not like you need to search that hard to find out which managers are available. And surely interested applicants would be sounded out to see if interested first by the club through their agents?

Time to be a realist now I reckon, we ain't getting Mourinho.

The guy off Reddit a few weeks ago said we had spoken with Favre, Pelligrini and surprisingly Paul Clement who I cannot imagine being an option.

I would suggest along with Koeman and FDB, the first two above are still real options.

FDB and Favre would be a gamble IMO, but then again I guess every manager is. Pelligrini and Koeman are the safer options, but just don't carry that wow factor.

The fella on Reddit also said it wouldn't be Koeman yet Esk said that's he's most likely.

You have to love Paddy Power. Having put O'Neill at 5/6 fav and no doubt taking loads of money on him, they now have him at 5/1 and have arbitrarily put Mark Hughes in at 5/2 fav when he is 14/1 with everybody else!!

This is completely embarrassing. Linking ourselves with managers that we can't imagine ever coming to Everton. This is what Kopites do. Only their board actually fulfils their wild expectations and served up a successful european manager. When the time came ours picked up a lunatic more familiar with relegation than anyone else.
