This is completely embarrassing. Linking ourselves with managers that we can't imagine ever coming to Everton. This is what Kopites do. Only their board actually fulfils their wild expectations and served up a successful european manager. When the time came ours picked up a lunatic more familiar with relegation than anyone else.

Christ mate.

Don't think he said it would be him but was more he is his preference.

Might be wrong though, I usually am.

I may as well put it out there. The manager most likely to succeed Martinez is Koeman. Not saying why I am saying that, but there it is.

Just to clarify, for reasons I am not going into Koeman is the most likely replacement. Jose is not out of the frame, but as a club we cannot put all our "eggs" in the "Jose basket" for obvious reasons.

Armed with a serious amount of cash, and given the task of rebuilding - let's be realistic, that's the task any incoming manager faces, the Martinez project is dead and we're likely to lose at least one of our "star" players in Lukaku, perhaps Stones as well - albeit receiving significant fees for both, Koeman is a pretty decent choice, and one who has the potential if not yet, the proven ability to become a winner.

I'm pretty certain that a revamped Everton squad, under Koeman would have be highly competitive in this year's PL, so why not in next year also?

There's also the very real prospect of a Director of Football being appointed, integrating all of the junior levels with the senior side - an extremely valuable asset if this proves to be the case.

You have to love Paddy Power. Having put O'Neill at 5/6 fav and no doubt taking loads of money on him, they now have him at 5/1 and have arbitrarily put Mark Hughes in at 5/2 fav when he is 14/1 with everybody else!!
Artificial price manipulation to extract the most cash possible from gullible 'favourite backers'. No more no less. Betfair (Sportsbook) and BetVictor have him as favourite now too. It's just the traders adjusting their own odds when they see a shift with another bookmaker to protect their own liability.

I'm not really bothered who we get, as long as he get's the players fat anus's into shape and get's them playing togger again!!

Koeman may be the current most likeliest per Esk, but if the club are still retaining a search firm, then it's entirely possible a more appealing candidate will emerge from that process. I'm thinking that Koeman taking the job is directly linked to a DoF being appointed, as he seems more comfortable under that structure than many others who may be willing to consider an approach. In considering potential replacements, I have probably become too narrow in linking the job to that of Mourinho, Koeman, De Boer, and Pellegrini.

I wonder if this search firm suggests names based on an agreed set of criteria, and then make an approach through an agent/back channel, or would they be more direct and approach candidates based on their own assessment of what we need/want, after an initial brief? It would be fascinating to be a fly on the wall at a discussion between the board and the search firm, and the names that would emerge as being under consideration. A "leftfield" candidate may come out of nowhere.

I'm also intrigued as to whether Moshiri is taking personal charge of this process in that he would have to meet and approve a candidate, and then put it to the board for collective ratification, or will they all come to a consensus together. It seems the more direct involvement Moshiri has, the better the potential outcome for us.

Welcome home, he will bring the fight back into the team.

A lad at work says that this fella:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Dutt

Has enrolled his kids at the same school his kids go to in Aigburth.

Not sure if true, not sure if it's even anything to do with us as he might be joining the RS in some capacity, but thought I'd share anyway as it seems like an extremely random name to start a rumour about! This Robin Dutt is currently working as Stuttgart's director of football.

Found that a bit odd myself.

Not like you need to search that hard to find out which managers are available. And surely interested applicants would be sounded out to see if interested first by the club through their agents?

If anything, I would imagine the rumoured Director of Football post being more likely to be put to a specialist recruitment company, as that post might requires experience and attributes merely beyond being an ex-manager.

I know, I saw it, I'm on there most days.

He followed it up with:
All this rumours of Ronald Koeman are a load of tosh.

Koeman is likely to turn down any approach from Everton this summer as he's been made aware he's considered to take over Wenger next summer when he finally departs. There is a third club who could be included into the battle for Koeman, and I'm told it is not Everton.

The fact he even mentioned Mancini makes me believe he's been a WUM from the start.

Leicester won the title within 12 months mate.

We have some dead wood but we have some top talent. Good coaches can get average players to play like good ones. Mourinho is an exceptional coach and if he could instil the right winning mentality on our talented squad we could achieve a lot.

The liecester feat will never be repeated it was a one off fluke an anomaly from the norm.

We'll just have to agree to disagree mate I'm just not sure Mourinho is the right fit for what we need a new manager to do. I get the raising our profile and how huge it would be if we got him, I'm fully aware of the magnitude of it but I'm just not convinced on him given our situation.
