not gonna be popular this but if you are looking for somebody who....

- is proven in the transfer market
- gets the best out of players
- is flexible in tactical approach
- experience in the league
- respected by the players
- knows the club

..then David Moyes has to be on the list. I know hes pissed alot of us off but you can't argue that he didn't do a good job for us for 10 years on a shoestring budget. I think he is less of a risk than some of the other names being mentioned and i'd like to see what he could do with a bit of money.

When you of some of the players he signed for us for very little - Coleman, Jagielka, Baines, Cahill, Arteta, Distin, Stones, for example - all turned out to be great signings. Off course there were one or two bad ones but overall he has a good record.

I wouldn't be too disappointed if he was appointed.
Bringing back a previous manager rarely if ever works. Look at Kendall Mark II and III, or Mourinho's second spell at Chelsea.

exactly.

I just hate the term 'lack of ambition' being used to slam fans who are offering logical, realistic options and providing solid arguments.

Some fans just seem to think that we can go out and get the best managers in the world cos it's Everton la and everyone wants to be here...

I think there is a element of we have been ingrained with the plucky little Everton, knife to a gunfight utter garbage for that long that, when we dare to dream we could be great there is a massive "HAHAHA AS IF WE COULD DO THAT" with a large section of the fan base.

We aren't what we used to be, there isn't any argument which makes me believe otherwise. What i don't accept is people not daring to be great again, daring to mix it up with the best.

If you don't take a chance you'll never know, start at the top and lets see how far down we have to go. I don't think we would get as far down the list as some people like to believe. Take a chance, speak to Mourinho, offer him the 100m and 8m a year, if he says no - tar for speaking to us Jose, NEXT.

That sweaty looking kopite mess Kristian Welsh has done an article piecing together who our next manager could be, and focused on Benitez, Koeman and O'Neill.

He uses quotes from Van Dijk to try and point out that Koeman won't be coming here, but that Benitez and O'Neill are real possibilities. It's genuinely pathetic to see Kopites employed to put their own little slant on Everton, bet he finds it hilarious that they've employed him.

Moyes would be the worst choice. He is responsible for the small time mentality of a chunk of the fan base and the plucky little Everton in the media.

He also couldn't take us past 5th. It's not in his skillset.

I would personally lynch the board if he came back.

I've got nothing against Moyes. Bar the poor starts in his final two/three seasons, he did brilliantly for us.

We also finished 4th like - it was in his skillset - and at the time we were the only side to break the mould of Chelsea, Arsenal, United and Liverpool. The only thing that threw that was City getting their investment.

One off. Never did it again did he?

Mental really that isn't it, Flores out performed their target of staying in the premier league, go them to a semi and looks to be getting the sack. We under perform for 2 years and its took this long to remove the manager.

I like Flores, but i would be immensely underwhelmed with him, especially when Koeman is getting the stick and reluctance he is getting.

...I think it's utterly mad that some wouldn't be happy with KOEMAN...a massive improvement on every level, would be a very savvy appointment IMO.

As for the reason I then stated - the monopoly of the top four that only broke because City got their huge influx of cash. To have us best as the rest for the years between 2006 and 2009, on our budget, he did brilliantly.

Eventually though a combination of the budget restraints and Moyes' pessimism stopped us from progressing further than 7th/getting a trophy, and he left at the right time.

Aye mate, i am tending to agree with that statement to be honest.

I hadn't really paid him or southampton much attention if am honest, so when it was pretty lively yesterday saying we where offering him XYZ i thought i best take a look. Listening to the man was fascinating, talking about his systems and the way he uses different systems in matches to win, listening to him breaking down the good and bad of wins and loses. He really intrigued me.

then look at the job he has done at Southampton - bought well, sold loads, and performing better then use for 2 years straight.

His past is a bit concerning, if he does leave he hasn't lasted longer then 2 years at a club - always looking for the bigger better deal, but we all know once everton touches you.

I won't be screaming from the rooftops - but id be quietly confident we will improve massively then with Martinez.

I agree 100%, but there's a middle ground. Some people just continue to scream 'ambition' but offer no actual reasoning or plan of how to achieve that...
