He's a better manager than De Boer or Koeman though. Had a lot more success in his career

I think he would be a smart hire if the fans can take the pragmatic approach

No doubt given his experience.

Problem is (a) ex-rs (b) "small club" jibe (c) VERY defensive and possibly a return to the Moyes era complaints (d) have not met the heights of Valencia and rs since (e) no longevity in previous clubs

He would be our "desperation" pick if anything, and even Moyes would be ahead of him for that.

If any fan doesn't want Mourinho then may I suggest this for you because you don't understand what our club is about NSNO.

The media have us pinned like sheep giving us no hope, lil old Everton in their lil ground with a plucky manager who really wants a Cup Run because that will keep them quiet.

Conform Evertonian Conform.

Introducing Mediocre Manager No 1

Read a short piece about de Boer, how he likes to play, etc. He's apparently defensive, pragmatic even but likes to build from the back so perhaps a Moyes figure with a hint of Bobby. Could be crap, could be decent. At this point, I'd give him a punt. I'd be less enthused with someone who'll come in and completely tear up the decent work RM did, we can't go back to hoof ball, no matter how well Leicester showed it can work. They're a freak of nature that will be back in the Championship in a couple of years

And that's exactly why it wouldn't work, remember the reaction Villa fans had to Alex McLeish joining or Chelsea fans to Benitez coming in even on an interim basis? Multiply that reaction by a 1000 and you'd have the support he'd be starting with at Everton, it's a complete no go.

Fast, direct counter attacking football =/= hoofball...

Would like Mourinho obvs
Would 'settle' for De Boer or Pellegrini
Not too sure about Koeman for some reason

Don't want any of Moyes or Rafael, rather have Unsworth if everybody knocked us back.

Thing is they're all a gamble to some extent

Agree with all of that except for not wanting Rafael, I'd add him to the 'settle for' list.

I think LVG is gone, especially if the don't get 4th. He is due to retire at the end of next year, he hasn't achieved what a united manager should (in terms of silverware and style of play) and the fans hate him.

Regarding the fans, it's not unlike the situation with us and Martinez. If LVG is there next season they will go radio.

I think Mourinho going there is almost inevitable.

Like 95% chance.

And in the 5% chance he doesn't go there, it's by no means guaranteed he'd come here.

Once you factor those two things, the chances are slim. Not Leicester winning the league slim but high enough odds slim.

I think the ambition is good. I just think it's a bit misguided in this instance.

I wouldn't do it to yourselves. Otherwise it'll be like being gutted your 100-1 shot didn't win the national.

I see that Jose is the default if their choices turn them down like Pochettino, there are also one or two more on the list, Blanc is for one.

This is why Jose constantly pushes through the Press for the job now. The Everton have more chance than the 5% but Jose will want the Champions league and hundreds of transfer pounds to throw around so it is also still unlikely.

I believe Jose uses us to force United' hands in appointing him. We won't wait till the end of June anyway. It's likely we will get de Boer as the manager which I am happy with.

theres no need to rush an appointment. If it means 1st July so be it. Season don't start till august isn't it. Sit back and watch the real drama unfold after the FA cup and champions league final. That's when talk becomes serious for all party involve.

Think there might not be enough time to buy new players and prepare for new season with a month to go. Ideally we shall have a new manager in place around early June the latest.

Er... That's exactly what we want someone to do. Undo all Roberto's work and teach the players how to defend again!!
