It's bizarre when you think about it, that Swansea potentially have our future in their hands today.

Beat City and an amazing new chapter in our history could unfold.

Lose or draw and the chapter will probably never be written.

I would love Mourinho here and anyone who wouldn't is mad, he has won everything there is to win as a coach.

If not him De Boer would be the one for me, he is a winner both as a player and a manager.

And Moyes can gtf.

Mate, question to you, have you ever even remotely considered the idea that Mourinho - actually knows he won't get the job at United or maybe even or has decided to say feck it to the united job due to the messing around and NO ONE with an ego as big as he has will take that indefinitely, and right now he is playing a very smart game to try get the absolute most out of us in terms of backing and commitments made to him?

Unlikely i know, but not completely out the realms of possibility IMO

My gut feeling is that if the United board wanted Mourinho it would have been announced ages ago when LVG's side was going through such bad form.

It's a weird situation which gives us a very good opportunity to get Mourinho - something which would change the club for a long time.

It's possible, and if United do want him, they're playing a pretty big hand of poker with their current approach - that's not usually their style. Market leaders who want the "best" candidate normally just get the job done - hence my comments that there's no certainty he will go there.

The cost of taking Jose will be viewed as a business development cost - it improves our chances of retaining talent and recruiting very high quality individuals, it improves our chance of winning trophies and will certainly strengthen the negotiation hand in sponsorship and commercial deals. Therefore his "price" should not be too much of a consideration.

We're almost in a win-win situation. If we get him that's a win, if we don't but we are seen as having been genuine in our attempt to get him then that really improves our hand with a Koeman or de Boer etc.

I think we're beginning to see the changes in Everton that having a major shareholder (future owner) like Moshiri enables. We need to sort out many things at the club, but we seem to be sorting the priority which is on the pitch. The rest will come very soon thereafter.

True. We can dream of it happening, the difference in calibre of player we could attract would be huge, and Jose is the very best at getting the most out of players.

I actually think we have a really good chance mate on him, under Moshiri i for once actually believe we have someone who wants nothing but the best for us and will aim to get it

Money - Mourinho pays for himself in terms of endorsements and sponsorship ten times over, money we'd have to invest in the team to persuade him - will give us the 'assets' still after he has gone, plus throw Mourinho in charge of this group of players and within 12 months the current squads value would have sky rocketed, imagine how much a Mourinho coached Stones would be rated at - or a Barkley etc?

Moyes isn't in with a sniff mate, as much as he'd fancy it and he's getting his name out there, he's part of our past not our future.

It does give me hope that whoever we get, the club is turning a big corner and is finally progressing.

Yesterday I read the "open letter" from Moshiri to Arsenal and we couldn't ask for a better owner realistically.

The thing for me is that the Mourinho effect would in my eyes double the improvement another manager could bring, both commercially and on the pitch.

The way the football world sees us would go from us being overlooked, to us being the main event.

I think so too, but my hopes are building up day by day which isn't wise when Esk has said multiple times that Koeman is the likely choice.

On top of what you've said, Mourinho would mean that our players would want to stay. If they want to leave afterwards, they don't deserve to wear the shirt.

Spot on mate. The fact that United are dithering over Mourinho shows that there's a difference of opinion behind the scenes there, both about the future of LVG and the suitability of Jose for the role - if it becomes vacant.

It's a given that Jose would take it if offered, in fact I think he'd walk there, as he's wanted that job for years, but, whilst the uncertainty continues and our hat is firmly in the ring, we're still in with a punchers chance here. That in itself denotes a sea change in our level of ambition.

I'm still not sure just how genuine anymore the Mourinho wanting with all his heart the United job is as well, when he returned to England - yeah think he had it set upon that, but he really did get screwed over by United in that regard and maybe it soured him on the entire thing.

IF United did want him and IF Mourinho did want that job above all else - then i have very little doubt that it wou;ld have been signed and sealed and already annoucned by now, what would the worst outcome have been - LVG deciding to walk which just allows Mourinho to come straight in, hell with Mourinho out of work they could have made the change at any single point since Christmas as well

As i said above mate, people get stuck on the idea Mourinho costs too much etc, his wages will pay for themselves - even discounting sponsors wettign themselves over him and the club, how much does each club get per tv game these days, well pretty sure you could add at least an extra 6-8 televised games with him in charge as the media would demand it

Players and transfer budgets are a strange one as if they are spent well then they actually add hugely to the business - its only when they go bad people notice that though ofc, give Mourinho a huge budget and it won't be money down the drain for usre, it will just be transfreed into assets which hopefully improve the performance on the pitch and if they don't are still resellable

Seville haven't won an away game all season in La Liga.

That's why I can't understand people saying he is an unrealistic dream candidate. His Seville team isn't that great as they sell on the best players every year so they are midtable in La Liga. Despite that he has them in 2 cup finals - going for a third Europa League in a row.

I'm sure he'd relish the chance to work with a club where he wouldn't have to sell players unless he wanted to.
