Dunno mate some lad posted Ajax fans comments about DB and it had all the similarities about what Wigan fans said bout Bobby. Stubborn, slow build up, strange subs, playing players out of position, boring etc etc. Come back home mate, come back into Jose's bosom.

If we actually appoint him I'm going to delete that post and never speak of it again. Don't want to be negative about the new manager.

Till then tho, he scares the bejeezus out of me.

we have played the most entertaining football I've ever seen us play under Martinez. Until a while ago of course. If we could get that part of the offensive play, but also secure our defences I think that would be great.
we were scoring for fun!

I'm not sure you can have it both ways though, and I certainly don't find it entertaining to lose or draw in the last minute of extra time, or give away incredibly cheap goals every game. Had more than enough of that. If you had his attacking his a no nonsense defensive game, with a bit of snide thrown in and intense pressing, then I'd be happy.

Ajax are known for pass out from the back + sideways pass in midfield and then a forward pass. Basically how theyve played for years....

The sideways pass is then a forward pass to one of two wingers. Problem with them this season is thst when the winger has had the ball theyve been isolated and FDB has relied on individual players too much.

I don't think winning the Dutch league is a useful indicator of being able to succeed in the Premier League. It's like comparing apples with oranges, the level of competition is much greater, the style of football is much different. I think we will struggle with FDB, he's not what we need at all.
Completely agree with you. Look at the standard of Dutch football generally. My research hasn't been great (thank you Wiki) but the last time a Dutch team got to a Champions League semi final seems to have been in 1997. I'm thinking big fish, small pond and I am not convinced at all by his credentials.

His record when it comes to molding younger players as well as improving players in general is not too shabby. I remember Dante was the joke of the Bundesliga for a while but then a season and a half later he wound up being bought by Bayern where he played an important role in leading them to a CL win, and who could forget how formidable he made Reus look.

That's what I like about Favre. Players like Ter Stegen, Xhaka and Dahoud made their debut under him.

Without wanting to offend any of the middle aged here, I have a theory. It's largely based on listening to my old man the past few days, but it seems to me that a lot of the 45/50+ bracket have a real small time mentality.

My dad would literally take any manager. He thinks we need ''an old head to pull us away from the drop''. He lived through the 80's too. I'm utterly baffled lol

Why are some so keen to appoint an utter no mark?
No offence taken. I'm of that age range. may be I'm the exception that proves the rule but I don't want anybody. I want somebody who "gets" Everton, a winner, and we should aim high. I've been in the Jose for Everton camp for months but here's a wild card- Diego Simeone!

Yes, because he's established a team as CL contenders before when the highest Koeman has finished is 6th. He also brought through Ter Stegen and Reus into the Gladbach first team. Not saying Koeman is bad, I just like Favre.
We play in a league that is highly competitive. Koeman has established Southampton as a Top 7 team (replacing us) and finishing amongst the likes of Manchester United and above Liverpool.

He has had to rebuild the squad twice over and has done so with great success.

You want us to risk it on somebody from a league that is a one horse race with arguably only two competitive teams?

Favre did the double over Bayern, and it's not a "One-horse race", it's a very competitive league full of quality. Remember that Bayern are one of the best teams in the world, and even they get beat from time to time.

Philip Cocu and Jose Mourinho.
Cocu could be the next big thing much better fit for EFC than fdb. His young psv team drew 0-0 over 2 legs with Someone's Atletico in last 16 of CL. Brings young players through ( Depay, wijnaldum). Fdb hasn't done much in European competition really can't understand the obsession with him.

Unsworth conjured up better football after two training sessions with some u-21 kids in the team than Martinez did at any point in three seasons.

PSV must have made the semis since then. I'm sure when they had Robben they made it?
