NFL 2022 Season

And @Tree13

The coverage of all the Major League sports in North America by The Athletic is excellent... it's their coverage of the PL that lets them down as they rarely run a PL story that isn't already known or out there via another source.

If you're into the NFL, NHL, MLB or NBA then a subscription to the Athletic is worth it.
If you're subscribing primarily for the PL, you're wasting your money.
In my opinion.

Agree with that; presentation issues aside (do you like to read your stories, not videos like ESPN; are you tired of the constant advertisements on newspaper sites?), the best argument in favor of TheAthletic is a one-stop sports source.

Anyone doing mock drafts to bide their time at the moment? I tried PFF and PFN last week, now waiting for the dust to settle from the Combine before doing them again - I don't think anyone's getting Cory Trice or Riley Moss in the 6th round any more!

Carr has some issues but unless you are drafting the top QB or signing Lamar Jackson (both choices themselves have issues), this is the best possible outcome for the Saints. I'd still like to see them draft Hooker but I don't see Loomis spending that much draft/salary capital on the same position, he seems too programatic.

If it weren't for the Kamara/Thomas issues, we would already be building an irrational expectation for the upcoming season.
Yep, Carr is kind of like a Kirk Cousins. Not elite, but a much more than serviceable NFL QB. If you shoot for the moon, you run the risk of getting a much worse QB, or young QB, that doesn't live up to expectations. You know what you're getting in Carr, which is much better than you currently have

I also feel like it is well short of winning the SB with the rest of the Saints team as it is. Tough situation to be in. I think the Saints might be best served taking it easy and letting some money fall off the cap but they keep going for it.

With a healthy Thomas and a non-suspended Kamara they have enough skill to compete, but Loomis has made some bad decisions recently and at some point it will be blow it up time. Losing Trey Hendrickson, Boston Scott, Marcus Williams, and Terron Armstead (3 good enough to play for SB teams and one a perennial pro bowl selection) plus trading Ceedy Deuce... it's a lot of talent hemorrhaging and it hasn't all gone well.

Can I, as a fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars, actually be sanguine going into the draft combine? Perhaps.

Oh, and Calvin Ridley just got reinstated to the roster today. Add him to the existing WR mix.

Regression to the mean is a powerful unseen force.

Rodgers to the Jets - I think this is a good move for both parties

Trading a QB as good as Rodgers is never going to be a good thing for Green Bay, no matter what they get in return. Love is a big step down in quality whatever way you want to look at it.

It might well be the best time to move on but it means a rebuild for the Packers.
