NFL 2022 Season

Trading a QB as good as Rodgers is never going to be a good thing for Green Bay, no matter what they get in return. Love is a big step down in quality whatever way you want to look at it.

It might well be the best time to move on but it means a rebuild for the Packers.
Fwiw Rodgers was pretty crap last season and I think the biggest reason they fell short of the playoffs. Love will probably be worse because that's just how it goes but given last season and his age it might just be time.

He had a broken thumb from week 4 of 5 (London game), and then got a rib injury about week 10. Part of me thinks that if they really thought Love was good enough, they would have told Rodgers to rest his injuries and take 4 weeks on IR. Especially since they were struggling at the time.

Packers biggest issues last year were an underperforming secondary, and a lack of depth and talent at receiver. Watson was the only receiver who really showed anything and it took him about 10 games to get going. He's going to be good though, no doubt about it.

The Packers roster is absolutely riddled with underwhelming and underperforming players. Lots of work needed in most personnel groups.

That's not to say it isn't time for them to move on from Rodgers, but let's be real: they weren't going to the playoffs last year with another QB either.

They were only one game away and there were probably 15 QBs who played one win's worth better than Rodgers

Go ahead and name the fifteen. You'll probably discover pretty quickly that none of them were available to Green Bay this time last year.

Allen
Brady
Burrow
Carr
Cousins
Fields
Goff
Herbert
Hurts
Jackson
Lawrence
Mahomes
Murray
Pickett
Prescott
Smith
Stafford
Tagovailoa
Wilson

That's 19 guys that were not available.

Green Bay didn't really have a way to upgrade at QB last year unless they paid over the odds to trade for someone.

I just meant hypothetically

What a deal for the Bears, over the moon to get dj moore included in it

Chicago has really got the better of that deal. DJ Moore is a really good WR1, and his arrival allows the other WRs already on the Bears roster to slot into their more suitable roles. This means the Bears now don't need to pursue a WR in FA, nor do they need to draft one in the early rounds. With all the cap space they have available they could go hard in FA, pursue Orlando Brown jr to add some real quality to their OL, maybe Shelvin or Hargreave to boost the DL and perhaps Jessie Bates to give them a leader in the secondary. This type of approach could leave them in a position to just take whoever falls to them in the draft, and this draft is surprisingly deep in several positions.

On top of all that, Carolina are still likely to suck this year; that extra 1st round pick in 2024 will quite possibly be in the first ten.

Rogers played with an injury for a lot of the season.

The FA WRs were generally very poor this season, as you say now gives them great flexibility in the draft and free agency.
They're set at safety with brisker and Jackson so won't be going for Bates. and don't think brown is worth what he'll be wanting on the OL.
Hargreave is strong possibility with Jones from the broncos for the DL. Think they'll get mcglinchey from 49ers to play RT.
Exciting few weeks ahead for the Bears

Yes. However at some point if injury is killing your performance you need to be willing to step aside and get healthy. It doesn't totally excuse his performance.

They want to move on to Love. The president of the Packers said as much last night, and talked about Rodgers as a Packer in the past tense.

It might be the right time, but I don't think it will be an easy transition

Dealing with Rodgers never appears to be easy. This would be done already if he was really wanting to play for the jets
