It's time to bring back the Quebec Nordiques i'd say.
I had Colorado winning it when I went through the matchups. The big upset for me is Vegas beating Dallas in round 1. Not a believer.
They would immediately be able to support a team. So would Hamilton. The NHL and Bettman just hate Canada.
Let's move more teams to the US desert instead.
Anyone think there might be room for a franchise in New England? the Bruins have the monopoly covering 6 States
come to think of it there are only 5 professional teams [MLB, NHL, NBA, NFL and Major League Soccer covering all of New England and all based in Massachusetts
The Hartford Whalers did ok fan based wise during their existence if not so much on the ice
I reckon Hartford would be a better option than Atlanta anyway!lolReally the same with Hartford. Lovely idea but no real chance it would work.
Agree. It’s a stupid name for an American team. Clearly they didn’t do their research when they decided to call themselves that.with a name like that, of course not!
I think the main challenge is that New England tends to have the population spread out in small towns rather than cities. Maybe Providence could support a team or bring back the Whalers!Anyone think there might be room for a franchise in New England? the Bruins have the monopoly covering 6 States

Oettinger is wobbly and Vegas sand bagged big time. A highly unfair matchup for Round 1. Meanwhile the Oilers don't even win their division and get to play a Kings team that looks like they're already dead in the water. What's your view on the Stars? Blue line issues? Not sold on attack with no star power? Think Ottinger still doesn't have his groove back?
If Hartford could build something to share with UConn maybe that could make sense but even then it sounds like a dumb idea when I read it back in my head. Maybe the way to get Hartford back would be to make it a de facto ESPN favorite, but no idea how that would work and ESPN only seems to be interested in betting at the moment.I think the main challenge is that New England tends to have the population spread out in small towns rather than cities. Hartford does have the advantage of having the headquarters of a lot of insurance companies so I imagine they would be able to sell luxury suites if an arena were to be built
The Islanders really seem lacking in energy, The Hurricanes looking good and could go far this year, bone crunching hits and some outrageous goalie saves, nothing beats Playoff hockey....Staring down the barrel of the two teams I'm invested in going a combined 0-8 in the playoffs, very grim
