I gotta say i'm quite disappointed with some of the comments on here. Just because the lid came from the SPL doesnt mean he's sh*te. i would expect that type of bigotry on RAWK not here, FFS lids lets just for a change try a positive outlook?

Not that it is a nice thing to do, and I am sure that its been mentioned before, but we do have quite a bit of leverage over Rangers. Should they lose (and they should) an appeal against HMRC for a sizeable tax demand - between £35 and 42 million - then they will be desperate for money.

Most deals involve at least two if not more agents , this one is no different except one of those involved is related to our manager. It's is perfectly lawful and all payments will be made through clubs/players involved. Providing no pressure is exerted on a club or player to use anybody involved nor any undeclared payments there is absolutely no problem.

The issue is the cost based on the bandied about figures. £2-3M - fair enough, get him in and give it a go.

Anything approaching the £8M figure quoted? You're having a laugh.

Im farily sure it will be less then 8 mill to be honest id think in the region of 6mill with possible add ons. Like i say hes a player thats been on our radar for a while - hes been extensively scouted over the years and recently. He has a lot of attributes to be honest, while many have questioned his pedigree he has done it at his respective clubs, in Europe has international recognition, its all he can do really, seems like the perfect lead up to going on to a bigger stage in a more competitive league.

Its all well and good saying he coming from the SPL but so did the likes of Henrick and Stephan Fletcher. I can think of a few who have gone north from the PL and flopped in the SPL. Undoubthedly the PL is of a higher standard, but playing up there comes with different pressuers and especially playing for the old firm you need a certain strong charicter and resiliance or you melt. Hes also from the Balkins who traditionaly do very well attribute wise in the PL.

Like i say, i think he will improve our goals +, hes capable of 10-15 a season - he also has the potential to improve as a player, he is also a provider - he can play down the middle, inside right and left.

Hes 26 - whats that 1.5 mill odd untill hes 30 a season - with potential resale value. Cant see much wrong overall. I think the majority are being unkind to the lad on here to be honest, i would have seen him a fair bit as well.

Its January window tvvat tax. Andy Carroll got it.

Rangers don't want rid, so its gonna be more expensive.

Not bigotry from me Pb. I don't think that the level of competition in the SPL sets the right expectations for strikers to hit the EPL running. The defending up there is poorer, ergo the chances created are more frequent. There are several instances that disprove this theory I grant (Di Canio, Larsson, van Hooijdonk), but all these players had a touch of class about them.

The converse is evident. Forwards who struggled to create space and make chances for themselves in England shone in the SPL, if I'm highlighting one specific aspect it would be pace. Slower players struggle in the EPL yet get by in the SPL.

I'm only applying this to forwards however. Several defenders have proved to be excellent on both sides of the border, and we've benefitted from a number of them. There are also a good few 'workhorse' type midfielders who would do well in the EPL.

It's not just a flippant comment from me, and I've admitted that I've not seen enough (barely anything) of Jelavic to form an opinion on him. But a big lad scoring goals and limited interest from larger clubs ticks enough boxes for me to have concerns at a purported £8m fee, however it's structured.

Will happily put my hands up if I'm wrong however as all I want is success at Goodison.

If believing that the SPL stinks and he won't keep half the strike rate when he can't play clubs like Motherwell, St. Mirren and Dunfermline makes me a bigot, then so be it.

I don't think it does, but whatever. If Everton pay anywhere close to 8 million they've made a horrible error.

May i draw your attention to the players we have taken from the lower leagues and gone on to excel? The league does not a player make young padawan

@Fourth_Official on Twitter saying they owe us money:

Everton fee for Jelavic is being touted low due to Rangers owing the Goodison Park club money therefore it comes off the bid
