Nikica Jelavic

No doubting that this will go to the wire tomorrow night (especially after what Moyes said on SSN today). Not totally sure about Jelavic, but we need somebody to bolster our strikeforce. £4m tops for me, but it looks like we're being squeezed by the 'Gers'.

Hopefully he will do the business anyone else slightly concerned that the only other club that seems to be interested in him is a Championship side?

A little but there will be clubs who will deem him not good enough. Then there will be teams who can't afford him as they're more skint than us.

£8m in probably too much, even in today's climate, but what can you get for £3m these days?

mcoist said 6mil was nowere near enough on 2oth maybe trying to up price cant c how we suddenly have the rumored 8mil never seen him play but cant help compare him to rest of **** players to come from that league with 1 or 2 exceptions

One minute it's 'come on get this done FFS'. Next minute it's 'typical Everton paying over the odds FFS'.

What about this simple scenario: The reason it's being strung out probably to the last minute is because we are driving a hard bargain and refusing to meet Rangers' valuation or anything like it. OK they know we desperately need a striker. But we know that 1) they desperately need the money, and 2) the player desperately wants to come to the EPL to join us. A lot of desperation there I know, but it would explain the game of brinkmanship, and why this probably will go to the wire. I'd say it will be done at 10.55 tomorrow night and he'll sign for us.

The best way to drive a hard bargain is to be in negotiations with another player. What do Rangers have to get out of their comfort zone for? They just sit and wait. If they dont sell him he'll be sold in the summer...and maybe get more if Jelavic has a good Euro Championship.

We should have a hand to play here but I dont see it.

Well no doubt the Doyle business was part of the game here, but it was always unlikely Mick would sell him. Apparently Jelavic has been after this (an EPL) move all season. For me that's the difference; player power and all that. They won't want an unhappy player on their hands either.
