Non League Football

Bootle have been deducted 1 point for making 4 substitutions in their Good Friday draw with Trafford @barneygumble. Another twist in the playoff picture in NPL West.

Scandalous mate; was there that day.

Goalkeeper got knocked out so they made what was thought to be a concussion sub; only to be informed that they don't exist at that level.

Ridiculous. Feel for Bootle there.

Wow really? That’s a joke. How can concussion subs not exist at that level?

He was their first sub; so not sure why no one was aware; given that these are every day people who have livelihoods and careers outside of football, you'd think sides not taking risks is more important at lower league.

Shocking by the league, but they've got form for scandalous decisions. A few years ago they double registered a player for Marine, didn't realise and then docked Marine points for playing an un registered player

Decent game tonight, Marine kept Cables at arms length other than one shot that was cleared off the line. Watching Cables is like watching Everton at times, slow to get players forward and no support if anyone gets down the line or rarely breaks from midfield, and too often there’s an aimless clearance and players not getting their heads up before crossing . May the best team win in the final.

Cables haven’t impressed me in both games I’ve seen them against Widnes this season. Seem to be carried by Kyle Sambor and John Murphy. Sambor one of the best wingers in the league if not the best for me.

Yes your right mate, I heard Murphy talking to on of the regulars on the way in , something “felt a bit tight” , Sambor went off at half time, he’s had a bit of a habit recently of looking for fouls but when he gets forward there’s no one in the box. They both started the season really well.

@barneygumble Purps now in pole position after beating Bootle 2-0. Called it didn’t I 👀

Saw Bootle against 3rd bottom Trafford and they were hopeless.

Also seen Prescot last night and christ, both are terrible.

Hanley, the 0-0 lovers next for Bootle. Then potentially reprieved Hednesford on last day. The purps surely can't be worse than Cables or Bootle.

I’m still clinging on to the unlikely prospect of Widnes winning all 3 remaining games and gatecrashing the party haha. Game in hand against Kidsgrove got postponed AGAIN due to a waterlogged pitch, being played next Tuesday now. Just the small matter of El Classitoll up next, beat them comfortably in the reverse fixture in November. Gutted I can’t make it due to work commitments 😞

Huge game that; your run in is absolutely brutal, if you make the playoffs it will be a huge achievement.

Not seen Widnes thisbyeae; but surely you're not as bad as some of playoff sides.

We’ve made huge progress this season. Our problem has been conceding last minute goals, we’ve dropped points in about 7 or 8 games due to last minute equalisers and winners, it’s agonising to think we could easily be 2nd if we’d just held on in 5 of them. But I’m really excited to see where we can go if we can keep Michael Ellison and the nucleus of this squad together. From surviving on the final day last season to knocking on the door of the playoffs is a massive turnaround.

I think the good news for you was the Bury result last night.

Every chance they don't come up in the playoffs which makes the NPLW a winnable league again next year, as I don't see Atherton challenging from the drop downs.

Yeah I’ve been concerned about Bury, part of me just wants them to overtake us and get it over and done with and sail off into the sunset, but yeah next season would be wide open if they don’t come up.

Also worried about Bury; having dealt with both Radcliffe and Macc this year; (I'd love should we not go up this season), 2 cracks at winning the NPL.

It seems for whatever reason; when a club restarts to bring out a load of neanderthal fans and that's what I'm seeing with Bury and Macc; only a small section, but ultimately it's what's going to cost Bury the title; as they lost points due to crowd trouble.

I do genuinely feel if you can build on this season; you'll have a great chance next season.
I'd say the strongest teams will be Witton/Runcorn and Nantwich, so every chance to build on it.
