Not A Transfer Rumour..... Wayne Rooney

He is now 26, he will come back when he about 31 and most of our fans will lap it up which will be a sad day for us. If he doesn't want to play for us in his peak, why should he play for us when he past his best.

Exactly right, he made his choice when he let that maggot Stretford move him on at 18. There's no way we should ever accept him seeing out his 'past it years', at Goodison. If he wanted to come now that'd be totally different, but he doesn't, so it's a moot point. This entire thread is a bit cringe imo.

Lads, it's off. He's going to Arsenal.

This thread is making me ill,the people wanting Rooney back are like little kids in a sweet shop
Happy?

let go ffs
Never!

We will get the same money from our shirt sales whether we sell 10 or 10 million shirts, thanks to our wonderfully clever board of directors.
Yeah the merch deal is horrendous but selling shirts isn't the only way he can add money to our bottom line. We'd be on TV more often, sell more tickets, potentially attract more overseas fans who don't have fixed teams to support, be more likely to win things ... and so on. I don't think we'd make back all of his fee/wages but he'd pay for some portion of it with his presence.

I genuinely think it's do-able ... I just don't know if the current board are ambitious and/or smart enough to try.

Because he can earn more money and win stuff elsewhere when he is at his peak is the simple answer. Wouldn't begrudge him that as anyone in his position would do the same.

tbh I dont want him for anything over £20 mil thinking about it, we can be frustrating at times and I could imagine him thinking he's bigger than the club at times and pulling a strop if he got subbed/etc.

I wouldn't.

Fellaini yes, Baines no.
Baines is the only player we've had who's at least in the argument for "best in the world in his position" since Big Nev.

Completely agree.

Would swap Fellaini for Rooney tomorrow but keep your hands off our little sex rocket.

There is a reason why strikers tend to cost more than left backs though, and if you believe the statistics Coleman provided greater defensive protection at right back.

Baines is ace, but I'd rather have a world class striker than a world class left back.

Not sure Rooney is World Class these days, but that's not the consideration - the (hypothetical) choice is between Baines and Fellaini - and I'd rather have a world class left back (who created more goalscoring opportunities than any midfielder in the Premier League) than a very good central midfielder.
