Dunno like, something defo seems like its changed.
You'll see how much it's changed at the end of the window when player sales cover these upfront incomings. We sell to buy. That's the model. The model is still in play.

I doubt that Lukaku's transfer fee on its own is going to cover all of our spending
Close to it. I reckon we'll get £85M minimum. Then the possible sales of the likes of Deulofeu, Jagielka, Robles/Stekelenburg, McCarthy, Galloway, McGeady, Niasse...

If most of those are sold we'd see about £55M in. That'd be £140M player trading....and that's if we keep hold of Barkley. If we sell Barkley too then player trading could be as high as £170M.

So what has been spent so far isn't going to even necessitate spending the tv cash or other forms of revenue...and the vast part of wages will be covered too.

As said: come September we'll see the player trading model still operating as the iron economic law at Everton FC.

Ah, but there's the rub. Those are players bought under a previous regime (Stek aside) who the club perhaps don't want, so any of their sales will fudge the figures

The only two players we really don't want to sell are Rom and Ross. Those others would have been sold regardless of other player incomes because they aren't in the managers plans

What manager is going to keep players on the books he doesn't want when he can get money for them instead? Not a single one

Therefore the whole net spend argument boils down to just Rom and Ross, you have to take the other sales out of the conversation because they aren't typical and don't represent "sell to buy" because we don't want them to begin with

I dont follow that logic.

It's the same for any manager at Everton: if they're new they sell the players they were bequeathed, whether they want them or not.
