Alex Young could play in Desert Boots, then again don,t think it mattered what boots he wore the ball stuck to either of his feet...
Alex Young and Alan Ball together absolutely tore defenses apart... and every bar was high for Alan Ball that never stopped him being (and as Joey 66 says) the most influential player on the field of play whatever match it was ...we were blessed to have Alan Ball...
Most times we went to watch Alan Ball not just Everton ...!!

Yes turning up for home games with that duo of Ball, and Young playing was so great Alex wore the no 7 shirt the football on show was breath taking the master, and a very cocky apprentice in Bally to become king!

One reason for Alex Young's inconsistency was that that he suffered terribly with blistered feet throughout his career. But when he was good, he was sublime!!

The reason that there is not much video footage of the Alex Young and Alan Ball in their prime was due to Harry Catterick: he believed the opposition would benefit from seeing us in action and he did all he could to obstruct and prevent Everton games (or training sessions) being televised. Very sad that succeeding generations of Blues have been denied from seeing without doubt our greatest post-war players on film.

......he was as good a target man as you could get. Very underrated, I know when Lineker and then Cottee came to the club they immediately realised just how good Sharp was. I spoke to somebody who played against him and he said when it was played into Sharp he shielded it so well he couldn't get near the ball. Fabulous and accurate in laying off with his head. Technically top drawer.

For me, it was him and Harvey. God Almighty, what players they were.
