1963 - Everton 2-0 Nottingham Forest. Harry Catterick’s Blues title challenge continued with a win over Forest at Goodison. Goals came from Alex Young & Alex Parker.

2000 - The FA Tribunal that Michael Ball & Richard Dunne had enlisted the help of to protest against EFC manager Walter Smith fining them 2 weeks wages after they had missed training on New Years Day 2000 had been postponed after cooler heads had prevailed.

1970 - Burnley 1-2 Everton. A huge win for EFC in the battle for the league title. Goals from Alan Ball & John Hurst sealed a win that kept the Blues in 2nd place in the table, 1 point behind leaders Leeds United but with a game in hand.

2000 - Everton announced a 2 year extension to their shirt sponsorship deal with One-2-One, worth £1.25m a season. By contrast, at this time, the likes of Arsenal were earning £4m a season from their shirt sponsorship deal with computer games console giants, Sega.

1979 - Middlesbrough 1-2 Everton. A midweek away win in the league for EFC at Ayresome Park. Bob Latchford was on target & there was also a goal for young EFC apprentice Ross Jack (pictured scoring & in profile shot below) on his sole senior appearance for EFC.

1933 - Everton 6-0 Luton Town. The Blues reached the FA Cup Semi Finals with an emphatic win over Luton Town at Goodison. A brace a piece from Tommy Johnson & Jimmy Stein, plus a goal a piece from Dixie Dean & Jimmy Dunn sealed the win.

1893 - Preston North End 2-2 Everton. The Blues’ first ever appearance in a FA Cup Semi Final took place at neutral ground, Bramall Lane, Sheffield & ended in a draw, sending the tie to a replay. Edgar Chadwick & Patrick Gordon scored for EFC.
