1908 - Nottingham Forest 5-2 Everton. A defeat for the Blues at the City Ground, in this league fixture. Goals from Harry Mountford (pictured below) & an own goal from Forest’s Jack Armstrong gave EFC scant consolation.
1896 - Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 Everton. The Blues exited the FA Cup at the Quarter Final stage, after a heavy defeat at Olive Grove, Sheffield Wednesday original stadium site. They would go on to win the FA Cup that season.
2003 -EFCs Kings Dock Stadium dream was over as Liverpool Vision announced its decision to press on with the development of a major exhibition, conference & entertainment arena at the site without EFC involvement. EFC couldnt afford the £30m to continue their involvement.
1989 - Everton 1-0 QPR. A crowd of just 7072 fans at Goodison saw the Blues reach a Wembley final by beating QPR in a SIMOD Cup Semi Final, thanks to a Pat Nevin goal.
1931 - Everton 9-1 Southport. The joint-second biggest competitive match victory in EFC history saw the Blues thrash the Sandgrounders in a FA Cup Quarter Final. Dixie Dean scored 4, whilst other scorers were Ted Critchley (2), Jimmy Dunn (2) & Tommy Johnson (1).
1998 - Everton manager Howard Kendall completed the signing of Don Hutchinson from Sheff Utd, for a fee of £750,000 & young reserve Jon O’Connor going in the other direction.
1928 - Liverpool 3-3 Everton. Honours even in the Merseyside Derby at Anfield, as Dixie Dean scored a hat trick for EFC. The draw maintained the Blues position at the top of the league.
1971 - Everton 1-0 Man Utd. A win under the Goodison lights for Harry Catterick's Blues, with Tommy Wright scoring for EFC. The victory lifted the Blues to 8th place in the league table.
1955 - Everton 1-0 Man City. A midweek afternoon league game on a workday, kicking off at 3pm for the Blues, that still attracted a crowd of 20,457 fans to Goodison. Dave Hickson scored EFCs only goal.
1929 - Everton 5-2 Blackburn Rovers. The Blues moved up to 8th in the league table with this win at Goodison. It was a tough afternoon for Blackburn full back Bobby Roxburgh, who scored 2 own goals.
1999 - The local media reported that the Everton Supporters Alliance had gathered over 10000 signatures demanding that EFC owner Peter Johnson relinquish control & sells the football club.
1981 - Everton 3-0 Coventry City. A solid win at home for Gordon Lee's Blues, with Peter Eastoe, Steve McMahon & Trevor Ross all on the scoresheet for EFC.
1977 - Bolton Wanderers 0-1 Everton. A great night for EFC as a Bob Latchford goal in front of 50,413 fans at Burnden Park saw EFC win this League Cup semi final 2nd leg, taking EFC to Wembley for the first time in 9 years.
