Turned out to be a bit of a footballing education/wakeup call for The Catt, (and british football - not that many where listening) he took a few of these lessons/examples on board.
Notably the ball whipped in for the near post header.
English teams were basically attack, attack, attack and were not set up to defend. This led to the implementation of the back 4. The technical Italian and Spanish teams could do this.
Celtic and United did win the European Cup in the 60's but were very good one off teams, playing teams (just) past their peak - fine margins.

Jimmy Husband always made the run for near post flick on from a corner in the Catts era caused mayhem for the defending team!

There were some outstanding performances by British teams in European competitions in the 1960s, but for my money, Celtic's win against Inter in the 1967 European Cup final was the the very best. In fact, I rate that Celtic team the best British club side of the decade.
